Absolutely, I’m very happy with my WiiM pro plus into SN3. Might try an external dac at some stage but not in any hurry
I can recommend a Gustard R26 dac it’s an r2r ladder DAC with a built in streamer. Sounds fantastic and is very versatile with various inputs to add cd player etc. I have it connected via ethernet using the internal streamer with Roon. I added an N16pro network switch and a leo bodnar master clock feeding clock signal to switch and DAC. I feel no need to listen any other way now
On the Vinyl front can thoroughly recommend the Technics Sl1210gr2 with Ortofon Concorde Black into a SN3.
I have a number of Regas, and love em, but the Technics is special into a SN3, cracking visual match as well.
I agree about the SN3, it seems rather a bizarre move to discontinue the top model in the integrated range when the 5Si and XS3 remain. I would have thought either of those 2 would have been more likely to discontinue than the 3. Just my opinion of course, but I had the XS3 and swapped it for the SN3 and personally prefer the SN3 leaps and bounds over the XS. I guess there must be a very good reason for the demise of my model, but it seems to be a shot to the foot, to my way of thinking.
They can no longer get the parts and want to protect stocks for service.
Would the 222/250 not be the successor to the NDX2/SN3? Still two boxes, just different approach.
But at around twice the price.
I think the pre/streamer plus power amp model has merit — I ran 272/XPS/250DR for some years, and it fits with the increasing trend towards fewer boxes and active speakers. But I still feel in the current lineup there is a big financial jump from Nova or ND5XS2/NaitXS3 to NC222/250 and no obvious intermediate steps. Perhaps the idea of a clear upgrade ladder is out of favour at the moment.
