Hi all
The collection of the old CB stuff is coming along with the hicap just going to Class A
Quick question…maybe be stupid?
Do the Snaic interconnect degrade over time?
As I’m collecting mint CB stuff and getting them all serviced before I listen to them,a little voice in my head says " what about the Snaic"…are there different revisions over time etc ?

If the SNAIC is black then it is a later (better) one.
Grey …just my luck
Just checking you do mean SNAIC and not interconnect from CD/Streamer to pre-amp?
Yes
The grey SNACs will be fine and shouldn’t have degraded over time, as long as the connectors look in good condition and without any obvious corrosion. Naim later upgraded from the grey SNIACs to the current black ones during the Olive period, somewhere in the very late 90s early 00s…
I had a grey latching 5 pin grey snaic lose it’s earth connection ( with much worry at the sound that came from speakers ) the wire from din plug to the earth braiding ( a few cm in ) is connected with a dod of solder .
Because that solder connection was on a part of the cable that is flexed probably downwards in many cases the solder connection eventually gave way .It was old .
I found it worthwhile upgrading to Black SNAICs on even early CB kit. Don’t worry about the different DIN connector, you can use the locking ring DINs , just roll them all the way back. Only thing is they won’t latch or lock, so be careful, but they do work just fine and sound great.
That’s great thanks everyone
I’ll replace it

I agreed with Richard after a prolonged test with my 32.5/HC/250. As new CB owner I’m sure it worths you to invest to a black Snaic – it wouldn’t change the CB sound signature at all, yet much wider bandwidth and minimal distortion, you witness what 40+ years old capable to do.
But later if you want the authentic CB taste you should get the grey Snaic – less warmth, more foward, lot of rhythm – smell like young spirit
All I can say is that my grey Snaic is still going strong without issue.
The only Naim cables I’ve heard being an issue are the BNC connectors on the Naim ARO tonearm cable.
