It’s the last major of the season with the potential changing of the guard on display as there are 10 Chinese players in the draw, and Ronnie admitting to stage freight. I’m quite excited about it.
I tend to watch snooker on mute whilst listening to some music; call it multi-tasking!
Or indeed some cricket commentary during the day.
Yes should be an interesting couple of weeks, Kyren Wilson last years champion has already fallen at the first hurdle to one Chinese player and Jak Jones last years beaten finalist has lost to another, the first round match you really need a ticket for though is O’Sullivan v Carter one thing it won’t be is amicable.
The GOAT looking good. Can’t see it lasting but good while it lasts…
Fun fact: Chris Wakelin played in my local league about 15-years ago.
He’s having a good tournament so far.
The number of Chinese players in the last 16 was a surprise (five?or was it six? - all obviously at world class level); I hadn’t realised how much snooker had “taken off” in China
I watched him today….a couple of those shots were totally outrageous!
I’ve enjoyed every game I’ve watched.
The standard is high this year.
So, The Man and Luca for the final?
It’s absolutely huge.
Last count I think there were over 1/4 of a million snooker clubs over there !!!
There’s every chance that Brecel will play Trump in one of the quarterfinals now that should be a match worth the admission price.
I gather Ronnie wants to set a network of snooker academies / centres of excellence across the U.K. that would leave a legacy.
- Zhao Xintong v Chris Wakelin
- Ronnie O’Sullivan v Si Jiahui
- John Higgins v Mark Williams
- Luca Brecel v Judd Trump
this is the last 8 draw with winners of top two ties in SF 1
