So who's off to the Bristol hi-fi show?

But Mike, you do it so well.

A bit too much information there, I think……….

Anyway, I’ve booked my ticket, and booked the car park next door to the Marriott (£25!!!...but hey ho, even Trenchard Street is 19 quid for the day). So having blown my old age pension for this month, I’d better turn up on Saturday.

I really like @JonathanG and absolutely wouldn’t wish to divert the discussion thanks.

Brizzle. Not fat from Wrezzam :face_vomiting:

A very passionate post @JonathanG I like that. Have a good time again at Bristol this year.

We’re going on Sunday. Mrs Mint likes to look at all the turntables .

I use the Long Ashton park and ride - others are available. Shuttle bus every 15 minutes, stops 50 yards from the show and costs £3 (free to bus pass holders).
Having said that, I won’t be going as it clashes with the Bristol Classic Motorcycle Show at Shepton Mallet.

Haha Mike, I reckon that could be a very entertaining read actually, full of wry wit and potent observation!!!

Enjoy the gig! That’s going to be a very proud night for you watching your Son play…

FR, did you go to the Paris Audio Video Show? I see a huge number of brands advertised as attendees. Looks like it could be something of a return to the old Paris Salon days?

I was there 3 times. A lot of brands, but a lot of people too . Maybe I will return one day.

An example :

Yep in I’m of to the Bristol show, never miss it, Bristol parking is an absolute joke, the one next to is is awful, going by Train £36 return from Brum ain’t leaving my car in that dive, my wife said are you going to bring a black box hom with you, depends on if i fancy owt, But PLEASE let’s have less BLOODY JAZZ music in the rooms, I know I’ve opened a can of worms with my dislike of jazz.no doubt people will have a good go at me,don’t give a toss. All enjoy though SAFE JOURNEY TO ALL.

Diana Krall should be paid by Audio Shows . Or Carmen Gomes.
These shows are like the ground dog day movie.

I have never attended a hifi show because of my expectation of all the negative things different people have mentioned in this and past threads, to which can be added your phrase - if I walked in and jazz was playing I’d be out after the briefest of glances, and if I returned to find jazz playing again I’d likely walk away disinterested, unless the room was empty enough to speak to the demonstrator and ask for something to my taste or at least less obnoxious.

If there was a show within an hour or so travelling time I might be tempted to go particularly if there were exhibitors with kit that is of particular interest, though no good if rooms crowded. As for music, it should be a good variety of styles, perhaps changing after every track.

Someone mentioned the possibility of picking up some show bargains: Leaving aside the question of why prices should be cheaper at shows, for things needing a proper audition that would need to allow a window of time for post-show follow up.

HiFI is expensive at the best of times, a couple of year’s back i asked a director of a certain company based in SALISBURY which i won’t name the question was why are your products so expensive, his words were THERE’S ALWAYS SOME IDIOT THAT WILL PAY THAT KIND OF PRICE, say no more
