I would go more with Innuos Pulse personally. If i had the desire to stream online, Qobuz or Tidal max. But maybe both are of similar level.
Yes. The good news is the NDS can be used as a DAC. So you can connect a CD transport. You can also uograde the streaming platform and connect an ND5XS2. It has 3 digital inputs you can use.
Some connect the NDS to their TVs as well.
I also intend to do such thing. A TEAC CD transport to my ND555. Is it using the BNC cable?
Also does this mean the preamp 552 will still be on ND555 selection (e.g CD)

Some use Audiolab, project, Cyrus, Rega…different prices.
Looks like CD5 has digital out I might see if i can find one at a reasonable price. It’s a real shame that naim can’t secure more. I’d be tempted to spend more but I’m put off by the lack of repair available from naim CD players
The CD5 doesn’t have a digital output, but the CD5XS does.

missed the XS off the end. Found one on eBay but £800 and if laser goes may not be possible to get a replacement
I’ve been put off by the replacement laser issues. It’s a real shame that there isn’t somebody with some know how that could fits the best lasers possible in these older CD players. I really dislike this throw away culture. Naim have been really good at servicing older equipment. This quality and the sound that I like has kept me in the fold. Some future proofing in this area would be a real pull for people looking for CD players.
I would invest in the best that naim have produced if only the lasers could be replaced or upgraded

Just rip your CD’s and put them on USB sticks and connect to your NDS,outperformed my CD555.
