Hi All,
I had to pack up my Solstice while moving and cannot locate the bottle of bearing oil.
Is there an alternative or can Naim provide me with a new bottle of lube?
Thanks in advance,
Mark
Wouldn’t any high quality Full Synthetic Oil work?
Might be worth a mail to Clearaudio.
I doubt it. There are hundreds of different types of oil depending on application.
I’d imagine it is this stuff. This is the Clearaudio bearing oil. Naim Support would no doubt confirm. Analogue Seduction sell it but I would think many other dealers also stock it.
Given the value of your turntable I would pay the rather expensive price for 5 ml of oil, rather than worry after using something else.
Thanks for all the replies.
@Richard.Dane - can Naim provide some direction here?
I can get the Clearaudio oil if it is suitable .
Thanks !
I don’t know the answer here so I think it’s best to get advice from Naim on this. Have you asked Naim support (support@naimadio.com)?
I do need to call Jason at some point this week so I’ll ask him if he knows in the meantime.
@Richard.Dane Have not asked support..
Please ask Jason when you have a chance-thanks!
ask Naim then, why waste your time?
Martin
I think Clearaudio has the answer
Source first.
Didn’t ClearAudio build the table for Naim?
In the past, getting a reply from Naim support has been spotty at best for us in the USA. I have waited up to a week for a reply.
This Forum is usually the quickest and best source for knowledge in the Naim world- at least it used to be.
When I approached Clearaudio a few years back regarding specs for the Solstice for a new tone arm cable the response was interesting- the representative had zero knowledge of what a Naim Solstice was. I am pretty sure that the Solstice project was back-room stuff over at Clearaudio and the staff have little knowledge of it. Hence my inquiry here…
I feel your pain you pay good money then get the runaround.
Poor support all round.
Let’s hope the deck is reliable long term.
Using the skills I’ve learnt from watching every episode of Columbo at least three times and looking at the image of the oil bottle in the solstice instructions, I have my suspicions as to the correct oil to use.
I was about to post a similar reply when I saw your comment.
A screenshot from the Naim set up video seems to show the identical bottle. I’d be pretty content that the Clearaudio product is the one you need.
Mark, I spoke with Jason this morning. The bearing oil is from Clearaudio. He warns that you don’t need much, just a few drops (4) is all
Thanks for the confirmation Richard-much appreciated!
Or is that ’ secret “sauce” ’ first?
