Solstice Owners - which cartridges are you trying?

OK we need Solstice owners who’ve received the new lighter counterweights to start opening their wallets and trying different cartridges!

Please report your journeys and results in this thread.

Im really super happy with what Im hearing from the Solstice right now.

I do have a curiosity about owning an LP12 . . . but on balance it’s the wrong decision for me. If I lived in the UK and could bring in a used one easily that’s one thing, but here new they are $$$$ and finding the right used one AND someone to be sure it’s set up properly so I’m hearing the best from it . . . is just too high a set of hurdles. But you’re right and we did talk about this!

My Solstice currently runs a Lyra Etna SL into a Sutherland PhonoLoco phono pre via Lyra interconnects. I modified an original counterweight to accommodate the lighter Lyra. Still waiting for my new weight to arrive…
Very happy with the performance of the deck at this level.

Is there anything about the Aro2 arm that suggests anything about what cartridge might be a good match? High vs. low compliance? Total mass? Anything else?

Are you considering the NPX300 for your Solstice?

Isn’t it the NPX-TT for the Solstice?

NPX300 is a power supply upgrade option for the Solstice.

I had an aphelion 2 lying around so, you know, it would be rude not too🤣

Just about able to get the new counterweight to give me the required tracking force and it sounds pretty good.

The new counterweight feels a lot more solid once on, it is a tighter fit and is rifled so adjusting it is much easier. Well done Naim!

Gotcha, thanks Chris. I thought it was only the NPX-TT that could power the Solstice.
We need your Solstice expertise on the Zoom calls. hint hint

It seems that the Aro2 arm is of relatively high mass such that a low compliance cartridge would be the best match (???)

I see that the Dynavector XV-1t, XV-1s, and Te Kaitora all are a “10” and the Lyra Atlas Lambda is a “12” and these are pretty low values I believe.

PS I mention those just by way of example.
