Sorry if I’m preaching to the converted and the informed…

I have been a Naim fan ever since buying my first hifi system back in the early 1990s. I absolutely love the PRAT but even with my rather modest system consisting of a Naim Nait XS and a pair of Linn Keilidhs it is a system which just keeps on giving. Let me explain. A short time ago, my brother gave me a DAC made by an American company called Wyred 4 Sound. With a similar box shape as the original Nait 2, which I used to own, I plugged it into my system using the most basic of qed rca interconnects, a Toslink cable from the TV which was attached to a SkyQ box and a spare Naim mains cable. Well the sound, using Spotify as a main streaming source, is nothing short of miraculous and underlines qualities in the Naim amp which I never thought possible. The amp grips beautifully in a way that only Naim can and makes the Keilidh’s sing. What is more remarkable is that this quality extends across all genres. I listen to a wide range of music but if the music is produced well, the Naim communicates it from jazz and classical to pop, rock and trance. Even on YouTube, the sound quality of certain tracks has markedly improved. I am sorry if this sounds naive but I am beginning to think that the biggest upgrade to amplification and speakers can be through the DAC itself !!! Another thing I have noticed is that sound quality is different depending on the time of day. Late at night everything improves and leaves an even bigger smile on my face

Glad that you’re enjoying your updated system.

A good example of the “source first” principle.

Naim amplification can make the best of any source. A good dac can make the best of any digital input. It is good to hear that confirmed and it’s never preaching to the converted. Always good to hear.

In reference to your title, I’m sure you are.

My experience is pretty much the same. I came late to Naim, having had (and been happy with) a number of different amps and speakers by different makers.

Getting to Naim (the Atom) was through my need to stream, as I now don’t have space for CDs. I demoed, and was immediately hit with a real sense of presence and depth of sound stage, together with a musicality on all of my favourite types of music - Blues, World, Arabic, Classical, Folk, whether recorded simply or not.

I am still exploring, listening to very familiar recordings and being constantly - and pleasantly - surprised at new levels of insight Naim brings to my ears.
