Spare a thought at this time of year for …

…. for forum moderators 6 days before Christmas when a contentious firmware is being replaced.

Happy Christmas @Richard.Dane. You are doing some sterling work navigating the various happy / unhappy threads and are (IMHO) showing some great restraint in not using your moderator’s magic powers to zap a post or two!

I wish you and yours a peaceful Christmas and a healthy and happy new year.

I second this completely. Even if there will be moments we might see things otherwise, I have a great deal of respect for the way things @Richard.Dane is handling things in those threads as it is by far an easy job. That goes for other mods as well.

Hats off and big thanks.

Also spare a thought for those less fortunate than ourselves. People in war-torn countries like Ukraine and too many parts of the Middle East. People who struggle to choose between buying warmth and buying food. People who have, or whose sons or daughters have succumbed to the rising inhumanity of our society. People - and there are some among us - who don’t know if the latest round of chemo will be the end of their troubles or simply the end.

HiFi, including this forum, is a wonderful luxury that we enjoy and brings us together, but it us just that, a luxury that is beyond the reach of far too many.

It is still the most civil forum by miles. Even what this forum experiences as a heated flair up would go unnoticed elsewhere. Everyone cuts everyone else a lot of slack.

And yes, I think every day how lucky I am to be who I am where I am. This will be my first New Year spent in the UK with my parents and siblings in about 26 years.

But with good fortune and seasonal cheer, the contrast with unbelievable human cruelty is something I find hard to put out of my mind. May everyone here be ever watchful for an opportunity to land in their lap to make the world a slightly kinder empathetic place.

Hohoho. :santa:

Thank you for the thought sjb.

I have to admit, the Vtuner debacle last Christmas was particularly tough, especially as I had my Sister’s entire family over from Canada and had to cook and entertain throughout (I never imagined I would have to have an iPad on my knee to do the forum during Christmas lunch). It would be great to avoid anything similar this year.

Happy Christmas to you all members of the forum.

Yes Richard, your professionalism and above all, patience, is admirable and to be commended - thank you! The V tuner issue was difficult because members on here made it so, hopefully they will show a little more restraint and respect this year. Have a good one! :christmas_tree:
