Speaker build - CNO4

He seems a rather discerning pup…

Kind of like the modern version of the classic RCA Nipper dog picture.

I think she/he’s concerned the balance setting of the Atom is a bit off.

I thought he was annoyed someone had put the remote out of reach of his paws… one hard stare and it will come to me!

Sorry for all the questions, but how do you trim as the front panel is also beveled? Or do you add the bevel after trimming?

Do you mean the angle on the top of the front panel where the step is? That is cut when the front panel is cut you just put a 15 degree angle on the circular saw/table saw.

I think she was mid scratch with left hind leg.

The questions are fine. You are obviously thinking through the build and working out how you will do stuff. That’s important.

For the top I was thinking I could just do the angled edge first and then trim the bottom (which is straight cut) to avoid issues. But I was wondering about the side angle, as trimming would create a flat bit.

And as I’ll be paying for the workspace I definitely need to think it through to be somewhat efficient despite a lack of experience.

And originally on Couldn’t stand The Weather.

Similar-ish style is Lenny from Texas Flood, for further listening.

Thank you. I own and have always enjoyed listening to Riviera Paradise on the album IN STEP. If you don’t already know, it’s a 10 minute, instrumental only, and his first album after his sobriety. After the session was done, SRV came back and told the engineer to roll tape on that song so he could lay another version down, no lights on, just him. That is the version we hear, so I have read. Might be another single for @Mark84 to help burn in his new speaker build, which by the way, your finish product looks and sounds fantastic. Sorry to hijack the thread!

Hi, the sides of the front panel are 40 degrees to a depth of 15mm, so there will be a 5mm flat edge.

I’m building the cabinet in a 3D package which is really helping to see how the panels fit together.

Here’s the profile of the front panel sides and top, I just took a photo from the laptop screen so I hope you can make it out ok.

Wow! That’s very cool! That’s great to visualise the process and finish! Which speaker is this?

Yes it’s very useful! It’s the CNO Grande, my original choice :slightly_smiling_face:

I’ve got the quote for shipping, which isn’t too bad. Must say that the replies from Jantzen and Troels when I had questions were surprisingly fast.
Cheers.

I just read the text on that speaker. Looks like an absolute knockout. With your gear it will sound awesome I’m sure!

Do you guys live on the same street?

Hi
I’m really fascinated by this thread and am tempted to give it a go.
Can you advise what 3D package you are using as this would really help me
Thanks in advance

Different sides of the road though.

I’m torn between the CNO Grande, and Faital 3WC. Very different, I know!

Another one to watch out for is the “Ekta G Illuminator”, unreleased as of yet, but announced to come later this year on his news page. A slim floorstander similar in size (slightly deeper) and configuration to the CNO Grande, but with Scanspeak Illuminator drivers. I suspect it might go a bit lower. Too much choice.

I haven’t had contact with Jantzen, but Troels has indeed been very helpful.

Yeah, I had noticed that, but if first creating the angle on the oversized panel and then trimming, it might come out different then exactly 5mm. But I guess the solution is to attach and trim a straight panel and then created the angle.

The idea of doing a 3D model is really nice!
