Speakers for Naim amplifiers

I’d certainly include Proac on your audition list!

I got mt Iotas along with an Atom as ex demo units during Covid lockdown. As auditioning was impossible at the time I had to trust forum wisdom and buy blind, although there’s not exactly a huge choice of small high quality wall-mountable speakers! Fortunately it worked out well and I enjoyed the setup until earlier this year when I couldn’t resist the lure of a Nait 50. What surprised me was how well the Iotas responded to the improvement the N50 brought … the amp and speakers sounded made for each other.

Forum wisdom is actually pretty good

‘The latter’, Manis, sound absolutely fantastic. BUT, they need a really beefy amp.

A NAP 500 would do fine…

Indeed, it’s on my desk.

Big move for a small room.

With a NAP 500 they would surely rock! Totem speakers will give you their best with beefy amps, I noticed that. And when you get it right, they are simply fantastic IMO

I concur. I’m listening right now to The Dandy Warhols via my 552/500 and Mani-2 Sigs. Rocks absolutely with plenty of separation, bass extension and detail too. I also used Olive 135s (and a 250 before that) which worked pretty well too and, whisper it, I tried them with my 72/140 recently and the 140 wasn’t as embarrassed by the Manis as I was expecting…and at higher volumes than I’d have imagined possible. I’m looking for speakers for the 72/140 for a smaller room so this thread is useful. Sorry about hijacking the thread for a Mani2 love-in

I think there was a Totem thread a long time ago but it has surely expired, pity. By the way I have a couple of Forests and I do wonder how they’d behave with more power and a better pre. They already sound amazing to me. If your 552/500 works perfectly with the Mani 2, it would surely be fantastic with the Forests too.

If you still look for the Totem sound and want something compact, I would think of the Sky Towers. I personally prefer them to the Bisons as they are smoother and more organic in their presentation (at least to my ears). The Rainmakers were great but I’m guessing they might be too small for you.

By the way it seems there are quite a few Totem lovers here, they are just lurking in the dark :joy:
