Yes, I’d look for a s/h Mu-So or Mu-So Qb.
I thought of suggesting a QB1 — it’s what I use— but a quick look on eBay had prices above Martin’s upper limit. A good choice, though, and could be multi-roomed with his Atom when it’s back in use.

Any of the speakers from Ultimate Ears are excellent. They sound surprisingly good and can be used anywhere. My first one lasted over 10 years and I only replaced it as a family member dropped it out of a window… it almost survived entact. Great for Holidays and the garden as well.
Beats Pill, now £90 on AZ.
It replaced my B&W T7 which packed up after 10 years and is a good substitute.
I did have an Audio pro which sounded great but didn’t last long - stopped working got a replacement for free and that stopped working too so I gave up with them as a brand.
I have one of the portable speakers (garden and holiday use) and for the money it works fine - Jbl mega boom I think. (silly name but works well)

A friend bought one of those JBL mega booms while I was visiting him in Italy last year. It was perfect for what he needed it for and sounded better than something that size should do.
