I had been running Uniti Star with a pair of Focal Chora 826, which sounded spot o to my ear, articulate enough but allowing all genres of music to be played without being tiring.
However, i have just upgraded to the Nova and next step would be to upgrade the speakers in time.
Has anyone have any advice on the speaker manufacturer that would potentially give me similar presentation that would be an all genre, non tiring listen?
I appreciate it is a very personal thing, but just reaching out to someone who may have made the same upgrades.
There are so many possibilities here.
Find a dealer or dealers where you can listen to;
Totem, pmc, spendor, neat, proac, harbeth etc
And pick the one you like the best.
None of the aforementioned are bad speakers, but you can make an inappropriate choice depending on your tastes and your room.
The Nova won’t be a huge upgrade over the Star so if you’re happy with the Choras why not stick with them. It’s a classic mistake to over speaker the Nova and before you know it you’ve been swept in to buying separates to match your new speakers that weren’t quite making it with the Nova! I’ve heard the Choras and thought they were rather good.
Depending on where you are located, your shortlist of speakers available will already be short and manageable enough. Most people only have access to one or two dealers with maybe 4-8 speakers between them in a given price range.
The forums can throw 101 different ideas at your but in most cases, the shortlist is made for you and the other 96 suggestions are off the table before you start.
Agree full fat Powerline makes a noticeable difference in SQ with the standard Nova. Re speakers: I have used dynaudio s40s (fantastic), dynaudio heritage specials (wow!) and currently my beautiful 805D4 signatures with a rel s/510. (Bloomin’ marvellous). And I’m only using NACA5 cables!
