hello everyone … I see that many of you have used Proac studio 125 with Naim … is it a good match?
I normally use a Naim unitiqute and Nait 5 … but at home I have other old English amps … Cyrus, Nad, Audiolab … all with a very pleasant timbre …
thanks and good music to all
Hi I think Proac and Naim are generally seen as a good match, but equally would Proacs be the right speaker for your room?
I have a pair of Proac response d15, same cabinet sizes and driver units as the studio 125, main difference is the response have bass ports firing through the base of the speakers which makes the speakers easier to place and more tolerant to room dynamics. I bought them many years ago after trying quite a few different brands and types of speakers- the Proac’s stood out by miles and were difficult to beat at their price point- I’d guess that the studio 125’s are capable of sounding as good once positioned to allow the bass to work well. I still occasionally use mine in my second system with a superuniti and they still surprise me with the sq - really extremely enjoyable making my primary system which cost way more seem rather exuberant. I’d try the studio’s in your room, I think if the bass fits in ok you will be very impressed
I used the Studio 140 Mk II with Naim Nait XS amplifier with great results.
They really lit up with my entry level 202/200 separates. No doubt they had more to give with better source and amplification beyond.
I switched to Naim Ovator s400 speakers eventually, mostly out of curiosity. I think the ProAc studios definitely do some things better… perhaps a nice balance between uncompromising neutral precision vs richness and vibrancy?
