Spotify lossless is now available where I live, which makes it super interesting. Family always preferred spotify over tidal, so keen to see how i make this a joint primary source. I stuck w Tidal due to quality
What are learnings on best usage setup? When I play from my iphone, music replay on nd555 stops eg when take on airpods or i talk on the phone. Do you use a dedicated tablet?
Any other tips and tricks?
I still dont see lossless quality on the nd555 diagnostic page, so will try to log in and out as suggested here. Any other learnings on getting lossless quality with Spotify?
You must be doing something wrong then, it should be the same as Tidal or a CD. Maybe the firmware is not the latest? Could be a risk updating it though, many people here hated the second latest one.
Hello, I am using a Lumin P1, but I do use Spotify lossless. For me, I can choose Spotify on the Lumin App, or cast it from my phone, or IPad using connect. In all cases it shows lossless, or CD quality in the now playing window. I am no expert, but you could try deleting the App, then bringing it in again from the App store. Have you changed the settings to Lossless in the Naim App?
If you don’t know how click on the icon top left in Spotify
It does say lossless when i play spotify using connect via the naim app. However in the streamer homepage, which I log into, it only shows a cirka 940 kbps.
In the naim app under streaming services, spotify is set for extreme, which is the highest level I get there.
in the spotify app its set for lossless when using wifi
Are you doing something different? Are you measuring 1411 kbps? I dont know your P1..
Yes I see 1411 kbps, but in settings I do not have the extreme option, it says very high, then under that is Lossless. Maybe someone with an ND555 will see this and can help.
Have you searched for Spotify connect here on the forum? Because there were quite a few threads on it when they first started rolling it out a month or so ago.
Ah - I found the problem. In spotify there is a toggle under media quality named “automatic adjustment”. I turned that off and now get 1411. Format shows also as 24 bit 44,1. This is great with true lossless
When its a 24bit file I get 1411 kbps and when 16bit file it says 940. Well its for sure progress
Will see if playback is stable but it was really great to know that you get 1411 from spotify, then it had to be something in my end.
Cool, yes I think there was a thread about what to turn off for best sound quality. Not sure if it was on this forum, but pretty much turn everything off except Lossless.
Thats very helpful. I am learning a lot here, but makes sense that the file size is smaller with less info per second eg silence. Then not just about the nominal format.
Are you sure? You should get 1411.2 when you play a 16 bit file, not 24 bit. (44.1 x 2 x 16 =1,411.2). 24/96 would be 4608.
You will sometimes see an actual bitrate figure displayed, as the data rate is varying constantly depending on the recording.
If you look at the diagnostics page found by putting the streamer IP address into a browser you should be able to see exactly what’s happening. Put a 16/44.1 iRadio station on, for example, and you’ll see the data rate fluctuate.
