Spotify Connect stopped working

Ok, it’s went like this:

Over the last few days Spotify Connect would ‘hang’, saying in both the Spotify app and Naim app that a song was playing but no sound came through. The Mu-So 2 even froze when this happened! I could switch it over to HDMI then and this worked, but the Mu-So shut off after 10 minutes (the auto standby timer apparently).

I took of the power for an hour or so and plugged it back in, HDMI was working normal again with no shut offs but Spotify Connect still did not want to function normally. A reset of the system was imminent now so I went on and did that (using the pin, 10 seconds till the orange light, Mu-So resets and I needed to turn it on myself using the remote after 10 minutes, it did not start by itself after resetting).

My Mu-So is connected via a LAN cable so there was no need for WiFi during the setup of the “new” Mu-So in the app (iPhone).

After adding the soundsystem to the app again (I also deleted and reinstalled the app) I cannot get Spotify Connect to work, whatever I try. I tried a multitude of devices, the Mu-So just does not show up.

Everything is on the same network, firmware and app are the latest versions and it all just worked for years until last week when things went south. I tried to disable any firewalls and check the logs, also to no avail. I am a bit of a loss here.

The diagnostics page displays ‘not logged in’ for Spotify status, but there is no way to log in right? I certainly never had to do so.

Have you tried logging out and then back in?

I don’t use Naim anymore, but today Spotify connect worked fine on my Lumin P1.

Did you try the logout option under Settings / Streaming Services / Spotify and than try to re-connect from the Spotify app?

When you reset the Mu-so, try calling it something different from before e.g/ Kitchen etc and it may show up. I’ve had similar issues in the past. You may need to reset your router as well and start from scratch, if memory serves me correctly.
I’ve had a recent issue with Spotify locking up when you change inputs, so it could be a bug Naim needs to fix.

There is no logout option, only ‘Input Enabled’ (tried that), ‘Spotify Bitrate’ and ‘Gain Normalisation’. And ‘Open in Spotify App’.

I changed it’s name, but didn’t help unfortunately. I also restarted the router and checked it’s settings, also to no avail.

Are you on a VPN? Try deleting the Naim app, Spotify app and reset again. Can you fix the IP address on your router? What router is it? Have you got the latest firmware on your router?
Sorry for all the questions, but this doesn’t make sense to me!
Do you need to install the Google Chromecast - avoid unless you really need it!

No VPN. I deleted and reinstalled the Naim and Spotify app multiple times and tried from 3 devices (Macbook, iPhone and iPad). The IP adress is fixed on the Fritzbox with the latest firmware. And tried with both Chromecast enabled and disabled.

I doesn’t make any sense to me either after using Connect for 10 years or so (as long as it exists) on a plethora of devices. It is just absent.

Did you try connecting the Mu-So to WiFi? Just to try what happens if the Mu-So and the controller (your iPhone) are on the same WiFi network.

I’m stumped! Just use Bluetooth from your iPad- it may be your only option.

Qobuz down, Spotify, Tidal next ?

The world audio extinction is coming. People are running and pushing themselves to buy the last cd players available.

Yeah also doesn’t do the trick..

That’s what I am doing now, but when using the IPhone it is super inconvenient when you get a call.

I am out of ideas. I guess it is time to call in help from Naim.

@Richard.Dane Can you chime in here?

I agree - I reckon it’s time to contact Naim support for help.

Two more thing to check (I am using Android, so names may be different on iPhone):

In the Spotify app on your iPhone, go to ‘Settings’ / ‘Apps and devices’ and change the ‘Local device visibility’ setting to see if that fixes it.

In the Spotify app on your iPhone, go to ‘Settings’ / ‘Data saving and offline’. Scroll to ‘Storage’ and press the ‘Clear’ button next to ‘Clear cache’.

I emailed Naim, will post any updates.
