Richard Ashcroft (The Verve) shopping in Europa foods opposite Chelsea & Westminster hospital at the height of Brit pop fame. Dark glasses etc looking very conspicuous and very much the rock star.

John Lydon (Sex Pistols) in my corner shop in Fulham, was standing behind him queuing to pay, it was the voice that gave him away when he was talking with the guy behind the till.

Simon Le Bon (Duran Duran) on my flight to Sicily last summer.

I know there are quite a few more (living in London it’s not surprising), but those are the one’s that spring to mind.

Had the genuine misfortune of spending an evening with Hucknall and Andy Dibble in a bar on Deansgate. Hopefully they’ll have grown up by now but at the time they were genuinely offensive the whole time they were there.

A couple of months ago we had just parked up the car at the Three Crowns and Sugarloaf pub in Kidderminster and got out the car. The car parked opposite us started to reverse out of it’s spot and instead of reversing so that the front of the car was pointing towards the exit, the driver reversed the whole way down the carpark. As we walked towards the pub we saw it was Robert Plant driving and his wife in the passenger seat. I’d say, with a few stops and starts it took him a good 2 mins to reverse to the exit. It was like watching a very old woman that had only just passed her driving test :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: I have no problem watching or listening to Plant singing, but i would never get into any car he was driving

Rather heartening to hear he is out and about and in good shape!

Rod Stewart getting his sandwich from the Mayfield Bakery (near The Audiobarn in Essex). Rod was being very carefully ‘minded’ by his rather large and smart suited minder as I queued immediately behind Rod.

I can’t remember what he ordered.

To be fair to him, he is a frequent visitor to quite a few pubs in Bewdley. The last time we spoke to him was in the Waggon And Horses, over a few pints of Bathams. He lives near to Kidderminster so always has used the local pubs.

Saw Ahmad Jamal perusing the jazz section of a Tower Records once.

Georgie Fame propping up the bar and quietly digging a gig by one of his ex band players at a local gig.

Steve Winwood stood right next to me in Jazz Cafe and really enjoying the organ playing of Dr Lonnie Smith at a Lou Donaldson gig.

Yehudi Menuhin walking past (lived up the road at the time).

In the early ‘80s I played a lot of tabletop role playing games and often hung out in Games Workshop (when they only had one store) which was round the corner from my flat. The manager quietly pointed out a guy who came in to buy stuff for his son, it was Rat Scabies from the Damned, he looked very different off stage.

I once hung out with Boy George. Well what I mean was I stood next to him at a urinal. It surprised me how tall he was. Maybe he had heels on.

‘Hung out’ seems like a fitting description here… :joy:

Once many years ago, spotted Mick Avory, drummer with The Kinks, in a pub. I walked over.

Me: “You’re Mick Avory!”

Mick: “Yeah. Do you want to buy me a drink?”

Back in the late 70’s when I was a few months shy of my 18th I was a frequent visitor to a pub in Goring On Thames, knowing the landlord well, myself and my mate often got to say beyond closing time, on one occasion we spent a few hours after closing time playing Bar Billiards and chatting with some musicians who were recording an album in a studio at the top of the hill, I had no idea who they were but later found out that they were in a group called Deep Purple - not my cup of tea at the time.

A summer or two ago my son was sat in a pub garden in London with his girlfriend and some mates when one of them thought that they recognised a guy sitting alone with a beer and his paper, sending me the picture I suggest that they go over and offer to buy the person a pint, they did and he accepted - it was Bill Wyman.

That’s why I said it. Lol.

Did pass Mr Wyman near Paddington one day, with a very attractive young lady , as I walked passed , her blouse opened and she had a ‘‘wardrobe malfunction’’ .

More suited to a Greek Beach that a London suburb…

Leeds. 1980. Backstage with Echo and the Bunnymen post-performance. McCulloch had just broken up with his girlfriend Lorraine and was sat there looking miserable.

Me: “Oh come on Mac, cheer up. It can’t be that bad.”

McCulloch: “Oh, f**k off.”

Happy days.
