Streaming Hi-Res with QB 1?

Hi there,

I have recently bought a second-hand QB1 and I’ve since discovered that it doesn’t seem to be possible to stream above CD quality (I’m using Qobuz) since the QB1 only seems to support airplay or bluetooth - neither which allow for higher-res streaming. I’m really not a particularly tech savvy person and I’ve found discussions elsewhere on the forum on this issue highly confusing/technical. Could anyone recommend a relatively straightforward workaround, or some resources that might help me to understand what I need to do? As it stands I fear I’ve really wasted my money with this purchase.

Many thanks in advance!

Oh I meant to say - I’m using an iphone and a macbook pro.

Qb first introduced late 2014, when hi-res streaming had not been rolled out.
Why would you expect a product discontinued five years ago, to be updated for newer formats?
Indeed, what makes you think an all in one box, excellent though Qb and Muso are, would universally benefit from hi-res?

To gain the benefit of hi-res, it realistically requires an Atom or Nova with separate speakers.
Both Muso2 and Qb2 here, plus Nova so well aware of the benefits and limitations.

There shouldn’t need to be any confusion. Indeed even Qb2, which can stream hi-res, has recently been discontinued.

If you search, not everyone is universal about hi-res files, since these may, be remasters and therefore not the same as an original of cd-quality.

Qb is a good starting point, streaming will introduce lots of new music.
Use the Naim and Qobuz app on an iPhone and enjoy what you have, no work around necessary!
No need for bluetooth or airplay, unless you are using an app like bbc sounds, for catch up.

You could try to use third party app like mconnect. I do not use Qobuz myself but at least Tidal worked fine (when the hi-res Tidal was not implemented in Naim yet). Obviously there is a need to keep the app open during the listening session (might drain the battery of the phone if not connected to the charger).

Thanks! That seems to have done the trick. I’m connected via upnp on Mconnect and it seems to be streaming in hi-res now. Thanks again!
