Indeed, Budapest. The ‘giveaway’ Parliament building is obscured in the photo (from by hotel room).
I do believe that Budapest is one of the world’s best cities.
You have ‘Prague’ on one side (Buda) and ‘Vienna’ and ‘Barcelona’ on the other (Pest). And amazing (and very important) belle époque architecture.
Obviously a place that has been wealthy and important for most of its history, but currently a bargain. And as Hungarian makes Icelandic seem simple to learn, everyone has a second language, which is these days usually English.
