I have recently upgraded to SL din din and SL speaker cables in my 500 system
Have been very pleased with upgrade over nac a5 and hiline
Now pondering the din xlr pair to connect my 552 to 500.
I’ve read all the forum info regarding this cable (pair).
Seems like some love it and some don’t.
So any recent impressions by those that have added these cables?
Also, what would be a fair price for 2 year old used pair allegedly in pristine condition?
I’m in the US
David
It’s a super upgrade, especially as you already have both interconnect and speaker cables, as they all seem to have a synergy. As to what price is reasonable it depends on both market availability and what you judge to be reasonable. 60% maybe?
Thanks HH
David
I preferred Witch Hat Morgana DIN XLR over Super Lumina in my system.
@Blackbird what are your other cables?
Agree with HH, SL full loom is its own reward .
ATB, J
Ansuz and Oephi. Had SL DIN DIN when trying SL DIN XLR.
I have Super Lumina full loom. It brings more refinement, detail and better bass control.
The speaker cables gave the full effect. I did the interconnect first, then Din XLRs, and speaker cable last.
Paid about £1200 used for Din XLRs.
All used apart from speaker cables which I bought new.
Naca 5 are warmer and less detailed in presentation, but still excellent. It depends what sound you are after.
Super Lumina equals less noise.
@Dan_M
Seller asking $3299
List in US is$6899
Would give me “full loom”
Buying blind
Zero regrets re SL interconnect and speaker cables
David
It’s very strong money as I paid £1200.
I would be tempted to hold out and buy from UK and pay taxes personally.
Try to chop that price in half if you can. Otherwise buy overseas and pay some taxes. It’s up to you David. I wouldn’t pay those crazy prices!
Not sure where you got yours from Dan but I paid around 1K more than that for a used set from a reputable Naim dealer around 14 months ago.
Was from a major dealer UK. They are mint.
I purchased and sold my DIN XLR for about same money as Dan. Mint condition.
Thanks to all
If I decide to buy, will hopefully go for lower price
But my main reason for this post is to determine as best possible whether the cables will provide a similar upgrade that I obtained from the interconnect and speaker cable
Aware no guarantees!
Naim just costs more in US
David
Bought the super lumina din xlr cables
Got significant chunk off the asking price
Interesting see on the pics there is no locking collar on the din ends, right?
David
Great you got big discount. Obviously they have room to manoeuvre on prices. No locking collar right.
Just seen this thread. You’ve made the right decision I feel.
Naim do this on SL and Hiline DIN plugs which are their own design.
On regular interconnects which use off-the-shelf DIN plugs they often recommend that the locking ring is not engaged. All part of their approach to ensure mechanical decoupling of electrical connections.
Thanks for the info and encouragement
I wonder if they require burn in?
They haven’t been used for long time from what dealer told me
Will post my findings when I get them next weekend
Full loom here I come!
David
