Supercap "This product is no longer available"

I just went to the Naim website to find out about the Supercap and was astonished to see “This product is no longer available”. So what’s the scoop on this? I have been planning to upgrade from my 282/HiCaps X 2 to a 252/SC and now it looks like my plans are scuppered.

Is that right?

The entire Classic range of separates has been superseded by the New Classics, so yes, the Supercap is discontinued.

You’ll probably be able to get a Supercap 2nd hand for some time to come. Once I get my act together I will be selling one of mine (U.S. spec SCDR).

Another one bites the dust. I sold mine a few months ago. Great piece of kit and quite a bargain on the SH market.
Long live the Supercap! :sunglasses:

I still have one for my 252. I’m just getting rid of my Superline and that has its own SCDR. I don’t plan to get rid of the 252/SCDR, unless I get rid of all my Naim kit.

It is still a great power supply and had I not downsized and sold all my system and bought an NSC222 and gone active I’d probably still have it.
I am sure you will enjoy yours in many years to come.:sunglasses:

Worth noting this happened a long time ago. A couple years at least.

Since I already bought a Boulder phono-stage and am impressed with how much it spanks the Superline/SCDR, I have started giving some thought to whether I might replace the 252/SCDR/300DR with Boulder 1110/1161 preamp/amp, which is more at the 500-series level of performance. I’ll need a windfall to do that though.

I thought they stopped just DR upgrading of old units because of a shortage in parts back in April (?) 2022. Did not realise they had stopped production altogether.

Naim stopped manufacturing and discounted the Supercap DR a few years ago. They announced it and the dealers dumped their new product stock quickly giving discounts. That is how I purchased mine.
