Supernait 3 or NAP 250?

And with these speakers the obvious first upgrade choice from a XS2, especially since there is already a HiCap-DR in place.

Another option is for @EazyRyder to sell the HiCap-DR and Qutest, embrace also a streamer, and move to an Atom HE with NAP250-DR at VFM now. Or even further to a preloved NSC222 / NAP250 combo now at better prices.

IMO it’s important to remember to also upgrade source(s) when aiming higher for the amp.

Thank you all for all the valuable information.

After some consideration I have gone ahead and purchased a NAP 250 DR. I think this is my best route forward, I hope you all agree.

The NAP 250 DR will be used alongside my Nait XS2 and Hicap DR. Eventually I will sell the Nait for a Pre Amp. Is connection straight forward with these items, does anyone have the naim diagram for connection?.

It’s straightforward enough as you already have your Nait and Hicap set up. Trade the Nait for a 282 and you’re sorted!

If your 250 is used, make sure the seller includes the DIN to XLR cable that was supplied with it, otherwise you will have to buy one.

It does come with the DIN to XLR. Thank you for the diagram

NAP 250 DR has arrived and it was pretty straight forward to get everything connected. Boy its a heavy fellow.

An Immediate difference is from low frequencies, Greater presence and impact and as I turn up volume its not shouty anymore just clearer with tons more weight/thickness to the sound.

I was wondering whether the Coriniums had enough bass, With the NAP 250 DR I can feel it.

The Nait XS2 was no where near up to the task of driving the Corinium Properly.

One thing I did wonder. Why is the DIN to XLR cable thinner than the usual 4/5 pin Snaic cables?

If the din to xlr cable is the same as the cable I had with my olive 250, you may want to consider a change. It looked little more than cheap 2 core mains flex to me. Im sure many think it sounds great, but i know it can be improved for modest money.

It’s basic mains cable, search the forum for more info.

When we had 250DR we used the SuperLumina DIN/XLR and it was a significant uplift.

SuperLumina is very expensive, but other forum members have used cabling such as Vertere Redline to good effect.

However, in your situation a proper pre like a 282 is far, far higher priority,

Spending money on enhanced cabling only really pays dividends when the rest of the system is maxed out.

We still currently use the mains cable DIN/XLRs with our 300….but do have SuperLumina speaker cable.

Although adding a second HiCap DR to my 282 made a transformative difference from just a single one. I have now reached audio nirvana :slightly_smiling_face:.

Stick with 2 HCs on 282. I tried a SCdr, that just led to a 252. The 282 cant use the full benefits of a SC anyway. And you have twice the VA with 2 HCs over a SC- they use the same transformer.

Is adding a second HiCap a big improvement compared to one?

Well, with all the usual caveats, I found it to be so. It produced a fuller (warmer) sound with better bass in my system/room, etc. I’d moved in stages from a Supernait, adding a HicapDR, then a Nac282, then finally a Nap250DR to fully replace the Supernait. Finally adding the second HicapDR I feel was transformative. But lots of views out there.

Don’t worry, I have no further box plans! But good to know, I had briefly considered selling the first Hicap and getting a Supercap, but views on here were evenly divided, and a good second HicapDR came along.
