I am waiting to replace my Superuniti connected to a 250dr, with an atom he connected to the same, replacing the power amp in the Superuniti with just a pre out in the atom he. I would miss the FM and DAB (although not so good). So the question I have is this. If I keep the Superuniti, could I take the digital out and connect to a digital input on the atom to retain FM/Dab. I would make use of inputs on atom for vinyl/nas via Ethernet and digital.
Yes, bnc to coax (or coax to coax with a bnc adapter).
Personally I would just use iRadio on the Atom, as Naim have really improved internet radio performance on the 2nd gen streamers (Radio 3 listeners may beg to differ here!) but yes, you could use the SU digital out to send FM to the Atom if you prefer.
If the atom has improved iradio, that’s worth looking at. Does it use a different radio server to the Superuniti? Also keeping the Superuniti allows me to connect up all my digital feeds, sky box, Blu ray player and Xbox series x (guilty pleasure for MS flight sim) thanks for your input.
Naim are in the process of moving from vTuner to their own iRadio service but they intend to roll this out on 1st gen. streamers at some point. They do, however, offer native support for lossless streams where stations offer it, but only on 2nd gen. streamers.
I suspect you might find that the FM signal, by the time it has been digitised by the SU and sent to the Atom (I suspect in a lossy format) might be little better than an iRadio stream from the Atom. No harm in trying, though.
