I have an Superuniti that I keep in my old house in the US and use maybe once a year (I’m located in the uk at the mo’). The screen has been dark for 4 years but I’ve been able to use it with the app. Unfortunately I now have a new router and the network connection seems to have been lost. I can’t use the screen to navigate and the SU doesn’t show up on the app. Does anyone have Neil’s key sequence from years ago to get the player to accept the new network …
I seem to recall this involves a factory reset and then a series of key strokes either on the front or on the handset.
It’s quite annoying as this cost a lot of money back in the day and still sounds great (when I can get it to work).
Thanks Robert - I tried that and it isn’t fixing the problem - I need to be able to see the Su in the app and it doesn’t show even with a hard wire connection to the internet. I seem to recall that there is a set of instructions somewhere in the community with the exact key strokes needed… from @NeilS at Naim.
What is written in the link Robert provided is NeilS’s key presses to reset the SuperUniti without a working screen. Or to put it another way, those are the Naim instructions that you ask for.
Once you have reset it as per NeilS’s instructions, then if you connect it to your new router with an Ethernet cable, the SuperUniti will appear in the Naim app. It is as simple as that.
Don’t forget that your phone running the app has to be in the same network as the SuperUniti. Most modern routers properly interconnect both WiFi bands and the Ethernet into one virtual network (although no doubt someone will come along with suggestions about avoiding your phone going on to 5GHz WiFi). By all means try that, but I would be very surprised if that were the issue.
Thanks a lot for chipping in David - yes i followed those instructions, without success. There is another historic post with the key stokes from the spanner key on the handset … it seems to have been lost … that was the only thing that worked for me at the last router change a couple of years ago.
Ok say what exactly are you looking for instructions for? A factory reset or what else? I could have a look at one of my SuperUnitis and recreate the key strokes from the remote.
I could only find the instructions linked above.
Try this:
Switch the unit on, wait 15 seconds.
On the remote, press the spanner button.
Press the remote navigational up key.
Press remote ok.
Press the remote navi up key.
Press remote ok.
Then press the front panel play button.
Also touch the front panel logo for good measure.
Wait 2 - 3 minutes before checking for a connection.
If you are looking enter wifi credentials blind, that would be tricky, unless you could be sure that only the SSID in question was being broadcast at the time.
Regards
Neil.
Did you try the sequence David posted later in the old thread that had Neil’s instructions in it:
Press spanner
Press down on the four way button 5 times, then press ok
Press down on the four way button 3 times, then press ok
Press ok again to select Yes to DHCP
Then press spanner twice to get back out again.
Well done Chris!
Brilliant Chris - this worked perfectly! Superunit up and running and beautiful sounds filling the house. Many thanks to everyone who helped!
