Swedish style hifi units

Does anyone know of who can produce Swedish / Scandinavian influenced in design hifi furniture in this country? Or alternatively own some. I am rather keen to look into this as I need to get a new unit that looks more like furniture and will perhaps fit into our room better.

Perhaps some manufacturers or suppliers could be named.

Advance thanks for any recommendations.

Which country are you in? There are plenty for us to guess at, so it could take a long time before someone hits on the one you mean by “in this country”.

Not exactly Swedish style but most of our rooms have mid century Swedish furniture. And a good ol’ Quadraspire blends perfectly with that.

If you aren’t a fan of the concave edges on the quaddies, an ADK rack imported from Japan is nearly the same construction but with right angles to the shelves and curved natural wood edges.

I am in the UK, Nottingham area if that helps.

Maybe it depends what you mean by hifi furniture, and what aspects of Swedish/Scandinavian styling? it might be worth posting some pics illustrating.

Some people have cited one of Ikea’s range, available in many countries, as being good for supporting hifi gear, though whether compared with specialist racks I have no idea. I have used an Ikea cabinet to hide a rack, but I other than the source I wouldn’t have called the cabinet Swedish style, rather it was styleless (and that in itself can be appealing).

If looking for contemporary pieces, the ‘Naver Collection’ has a few side boards and low boards which could be used for a small number of boxes, the side boards would need modifications for cabling but nothing major. These are furniture though and not hifi racks. There is a couple of distributors in the uk.

Contact a furniture maker. It is a little more expensive, but they can make something that fit perfectly in your space.

If you want to look at scaninavian design, look at danish makers.
Clic for instance.
Or Spekva.
Karl-Andersson is a swedish maker of fine products.

The Ercol Monza is rather nice and not too expensive, and very much a step up from IKEA. Urban Editions make some nice stuff, and you’ll find a great selection of nice designs at Heals. This is the Monza.

Great idea for a new thread topic…
What are your requirements ?

  • Size
  • Wood type or paint colour ?
  • Equipment only or media ( e.g CD drawers) too ?
  • Etc, etc.

It’s all out there.
Google and a few carefully chosen search terms are your friend here.

There are lots of products - mid century vibe or scandi inspired - intended as TV / media cabinets that might work for you. Like this one from UK based Swyft Home…

If it helps, we’ve gone through similar exercise in the recent 18 months, so if you can be a little more specific, happy to share ideas that suit here.

We looked at lots of ideas. In the end, couldn’t find what we really wanted and so this is what we had made - custom furniture - with “ Pickawood” . Tylko offer a similar service, based on adapting a series of base designs and modular approach.

Image note : Left side cupboard spaces sized for media, ( vinyl records and CD’s ) ; Right side spaces sized for Naim pieces.

The actual finished piece can be seen in this recent “Systems Pic 2025” post…

Good luck

Edit : @badger1963 remembered - an answer for your earlier question, is above. Think this new thread may be of interest to you too.
Hey @Adikt someone else got there before us, ( starting a new thread topic on “ furniture inspired solutions for an audio system” ).

Two more to the list: Montana, that is furniture that can be adapted for hifi, and Clic that is hifi units looking like furniture. Both are from Denmark. Personally I like furniture from Swedish norrgavel, quite far from hifi units, but at least they can house some hifi..

Or Unnu which is a cheaper version of Clic. I have owned an Unnu but was not completely satisfied.

Been a fan of Clic for a while. Great looking Danish product and perfect for audio systems. ( If I’ve remembered correctly, the founder is a Linn LP12 owner and that’s how it all started).
Would love to see an image of your Unnu piece, please share if you can ?

Best wishes

Sevenoaks Sound & Vision in Nottingham Centre (Flying Horse Walk) sell Lagom so may be worth calling in. They had one in the window recently.

Yes, I saw that I realise and have looked at their website. Sems to be the sort of thing I want and quite reasonable to. Sevenoaks are the only dealer it seems for Lagom.
