Yes, this was the Alps pot, and plan B was to swap it - no need now 
It is normally only used as a last resort. In all my years I have only ever found found one that works well, but it is almost impossible to source now especially in Europe. Gave up using Servisol 40 years ago…

I still have a can of Servisol that must be 40 years or so old, as so little is used at a time. It has done various switches and pots over the decades, though I haven’t used it on a hifi amp in that time because the only pot that has gone noisy from time to time has responded to the rapid spin back-and-forth a dozen or two times trick, and then lasted several years before becoming noisy again.
How do people clean their network switches?
