Since the last Naim app update system automation has stopped working. SN3 and ND5 XS2 connected by a 3.5mm jack cable, I’ve checked the cable is securely plugged in both ends and powered everything down and back up again but still no joy. Also checked the app and system automation is definitely enabled. The good lady has also tried it on her phone and it doesn’t work on hers either. Anything I shod be looking at before splashing out a pound or so on Amazon for a new cable?
Only thing I would do is try changing the volume with the remote to make sure it’s not a mechanical issue with the mechanism that turns the volume.

I’d get a new lead if it doesn’t help you can return it to amazon. I use system automation with my nd5xs2 and 282 and haven’t had any issues so if it is the app it’s not effecting everyone.
I’ll probably get a replacement cable but it would be unusual for a cable to just stop working when it hasn’t been disturbed. I was wondering if it was a more widespread problem.
I recently had a dc1 digital cable between my streamer and dac just die so it occasionally happens but yeah it could definitely be a software glitch
Perhaps try a power down of the streamer and SN3? Worth a try if you haven’t done so already.

Does input selection still work through system automation? If it does, you’ll know that the cable isn’t the problem.
No, neither input selection nor volume up and down are working. I’m going to get a replacement cable but it would be one hell of a coincidence if the caable failed at the same time as a Naim app update
Having the same configuration, I neded to make sure that the input is selected propeerly in the app, then it worked. In my case it is “Preamp 3” for the SN3, to which the ND5XS2 is onnected through the “Stream” input".
That’s exactly how it is set up. It was all working fine before the last Naim app update and as I said in a previous reply it is one hell of a coincidence if the cable failed at the same time as an app update
Try turning on the modulation option? That is turned on in my settings and all works fine.
Just tried that and still not working
The only other thing I can think of is to change the streamer input to a different channel, close the app, re-open it and then try switching it back to the correct one.
If that does not work, try deleting the app and re-installing it. I’m stumped if neither of those work though, sorry.
This is not what I meant. In “System Settings” go “Input” (“Eingänge” in German). This is where you need to select “Preamp 3”.
All that does is let me assign a label for the app home screen surely? With the other preamp inputs I get a toggle to enable it or not but for preamp 3 all I can do is add a label, presumably because preamp 3 is assigned as the streamer input in system automation already

Yes. As I said in my opening post everything was working fine until the last Naim app update
Well I unplugged everything, gave both ends of the 3.5mm cable a clean, plugged it all back in and system automation is working again. Go figure…
