That would be a strange onion.
Certainly makes the music more emotional as evidenced by tears in their eyes.
It must at least improve the layering adding a touch of round earth sound.
Not so much, mainly because it’s a pumpkin.
My next step would be separates and perhaps its better to buy the nac first and have the xs2 as poweramp. If I get my hands on a good demoex at my dealer I by both pre and power but if I dont a period will involve the xs2 one way or the other. The xs2 will serve in the second system wich for now only consists of two speakers
Haha! My bad… clearly would only work with anything by The Smashing Pumpkins
Wot not even an onion squash?
I haven’t tried just the power amp section of the nait on it’s own, but the beauty of Naim kit is you can either way, and this could if a good pre comes up first. You will need a separate psu for the pre of course.
Since earlier my earlier pic, I’ve now added an XS3 with an MC step up transformer and Dali Oberon 5.
Extremely pleased!
Greetings from Hong Kong.
My humble Naim x Magico combo:
CD5 XS/FlatCap XS + NDX 2 into 282/250DR/HiCap DR x 2/NAPSC2. No cap for NDX 2 yet due to the depth of the cabinet… Should I add an XPS DR or 555PS DR after upgrading the cabinet too? Big big difference?
Very nice system. I have demoed the ndx2 with xpsdr and 555 ps. Yes, the 555 ps is better, but the xpsdr gets to within 70% or so. If i thought i was going to upgrade in the future to something like the nd555 that needs a 555 ps then that would swing it for me. If not the xpsdr is really great.
I went from a cuddly toy XPS to a PS555DR on my NDX and the difference was huge. But that could be because Naim make the best power supplies.
I tried the Middle eastern PS, it is not so bad but a different sound, more lush, mellow…
Worked very well for me to soften out the hard edges when I had an original ND5XS many years ago.
First time I see Magico monitors here. How are the dynamics, the bass? They look small but I can be the pic.
Nice to see the A1s! I’ve posted photos here a few months ago with my A3s.
I’ve not yet heard A1s but want to at my local dealer, who is only 3 miles from my home. (I want to hear M2s as well but that could be financially dangerous!)
Bass is solid and firm, can dive into very deep… when dealer came setting it up there was some booming at 60Hz… coz of the wooden, closed cabinet I would guess.
On dynamic, hard to judge the speakers as Naim shouldn’t be the best in class in terms of dynamic (or at least for their mid-end amps).
Detailed, bright and yet warm, doesn’t sound like other speakers made of metal.
{ahem}
A bit of falafel caught in your throat?
Burn him!
