Can you provide some closeups of your mods? - looks great!

The sock conundrum is driving me nuts. I am self isolating at home with enough of a headache already. But I am willing to offerā€¦ are they in fact not your feet?

Now youā€™re learning the art of asking the right questions. Break it down . . . one ā€œstepā€ at a time . . .

Iā€™ve got IsoAcoustics Orea feet under the Nova, Power Line to mains and Supra CAT8 to my Google WiFi router. Thatā€™s it!

HH could have shocked us even more if he told us that it wasnā€™t his sofaā€¦

Feet i sourced is the black one for highest level, transparent for middle layer (since the brackets are higher up there for the original 3mm glass. Glass goes ā€dingā€ on both these feet when tapped (as opposed to ā€dongā€, duh)

Steel balls could be used aswell because the ā€mountsā€ have screwholes in them where a ball could sit (pre-drilled on highest and lowest levels)

I sourced the glass at my local shop, its 2x 6mm smoked glass. 96x32cm, could use 8mm instead ofcourse. It seems to withstand the weight

The Ikea rack comes with M6 plastic feet, I switched these for Atacama spikes. Although it would be tempting to try Soundcare Superspikes instead.

For me this solution is the most elevating and rewarding rack Iā€™ve tried to date. More details come through and less ā€boomā€. Drummers are twice as fast  And I wanted to use a cirka one meter wide rack as opposed to a higher towerstyle standard hifirack. (And save some $)

Some wiggle front-to-back when assembled but rock solid side-to-side which one would find most important. All in all a mod-friendly rack for what, Ā£40 off the shelf @ Ikea

Oh, and the buzz Iā€™ve had ever since entering Naim about 12 years ago are now gone. Only used Mdf before. Figure the Hicap vibrating transformer are canceled out by those transparent feet

Iā€™m glad itā€™s caused some mild amusement. We certainly need it. It would be tricky to deny it being my house as a few Forum members have visited. But they are definitely not my socks.

We know you can be quite furtive when you want to, Nigel. Hope the CC is under control and do stay safe.

How much a difference did you hear with isolators under nova?

Yes, they sound superb, particularly with vocals. Iā€™m a huge opera fan, and voices absolutely jump out of these speakers.

To be honest I couldnā€™t tell. I put it there because I felt the TV cabinet might be a bit resonant.

Hi RackKit,

Gorgeous room and pictures. What make is the AV rack?

Keith

Thanks KRM. :+1:t5:

The AV rack is from IKEA and was Ā£200 including the smoked glass doors and glass top. I had modify by bracing the back because the rear boards that slide in and keep it rigid meant that I couldnā€™t get the cables through to the boxes. Iā€™d have loved something bespoke and have the Axess centre speaker hidden away but then youā€™re talking at least Ā£2k instead of Ā£200.

This picture should give you an idea of what Iā€™m dealing with an how the back panels that IKEA use wouldnā€™t work. You should be able to see the 2 bits of wood bracing in the centre that i used instead.
