Finally managed to try brain and brawn, and I have to say I’m happy with a substantial uplift in sound quality!

I own the 3xl as well and I m planning to move to sn3. I m afraid of having to much gain for 91db. What’s your feeling?

Nice set up. How about a close up of that 401?

There are a few pictures of my 401 somewhere further up in this thread (in those days on a wall shelve). Here’s a recent one…

Thank you @jodl . I must have missed the other photos. That’s a beauty and a lovely plinth.

what is the idea of a fridge in the lounge?

I´m sorry @anon71888798! As time goes by…Those Garrad 401 pictures should be found in system pics 2019 thread…

Hi Pieba
It’s fine for me. Depending on the source The useable volume is between 7 and 11 with the SN3 with my 3xls.

Piece by piece I have converted my old mixed system to Naim. The last issue are the speakers and I would appreciate any advice from you experts.

I have an NDX 2/XPS DR, Supernait 3/HiCap and my 8 year old MBL 126 omnidirectional speakers supported by a small Focal sub. The rooms is quite large and the distribution of the MBL’s is wonderful. However, they are quite small and hard to drive and don’t really sound relaxed enough. Any ideas?

There is the NDX & SUPERNAIT Thread thread that you may want to post your question in. It has a lot of users and with close to 13k of responses. It may be the place to ask your questions regarding speakers for use with the SN3 and NDX2.

FWIW - I have used ProAC D2’s, Naim Ovator S400’s and ProAC D30RS with my system and have enjoyed them all.

Hi,
Welcome! Please can you settle a disagreement at this end. I’m saying your walls, sofa and carpet are grey. My girlfriend insists only the sofa is grey, the others are white.

Also, can she see your bathroom please?!

Chris

Welcome to the forum. Lovely looking room and system. I’ve always liked the look of those speakers without having ever heard them. There are some great places to hang out on the forum, I’d always suggesting having a look at the What Are You Listening To thread and other ones in the Music Room.

As we all know, there is a massive range of ‘white’. The floor is looks more grey than white, or less white than the walls anyway.

I’m so sorry that I need to tell you that your girlfriend is right. Bur of course, there are shades of white.

Thanks. She’s got that very triumphant look now but doesn’t really want to mention it.

I told my girlfriend who eventually became my wife that my sound system was part of the package I came with and she had no say about bit. So far it has worked for 42 years…

The reason of that is connected in the beginning when you said that she was your girl friend first and latter your wife…your lucky she is still your girl friend, more important…staying friend can be forever…just a wife I`m doubt

These are ones of the most difficult speakers to drive.

Specs:

More on the 121 specs:

SPL 2.83V/ 2π

linear max

82dB/W/m 106 dB

Power handling
continuous

peak power

The Supernait is far not enough to drive them.

Apart that, VERY NICE AND LOVELY SYSTEM AND ROOM
