Sonus Faber Olympica 1 - beautiful speakers!
With such a system behind the sound has to be quite engaging and satisfying.

Are the 804s on castors?

Yes you are right, mine are pretty cramped, I might look at trying to put the cabinet and stereo somewhere else to get a bit of space between the speakers , but that would cost fortune for cable, especially active. Not sure the wife would let me swap the cabinet for a frame or two. A couple of options none perfect

That’s great idea with the Chromecast I’ll look into that.

Yes, it works well. Just enable the Chromecast as a Display and not as Endpoint, it is just for the display of the ‘Playing Now’.
Plus it doesn’t need to be the latest 4K version, a 1st Gen version will do and therefore available used, from someone who is upgrading.

No castors on 804’s, spikes or rubber feet along with link cables come in the box. I went spikes.

Opening that door looks somewhat dangerous for the right hand speaker…?

yes, it does - but it leads only to an under stairs storage - not often used. Also you can see a little rubber white bumper on the side of the speaker base plinth  (agreed after long negotiations with my better half)

They’re not making any more NBLs and they’re still a cracking speaker. I heard mine at a dealership where they’d been taken in part exchange for Ovator 800s. I wasn’t looking for speakers, just dropped in for a chat and they were playing in the showroom. A loan was arranged and they never went back.

How does that turntable work?

Ken - try mixing some white vinegar with some warm water (1:4 ratio) and pour it into a spray bottle.

Then, spray on to the veneer and promptly rub in with a micro fibre cloth. Keep doing this for about 10 minutes. Then when dry apply some window / glass cleaner (e.g. Windowlene) in the same way.

As always, try in an inconspicuous place on the SL2 veneer first.

I found that there was a slight improvement in the grain coming through and the veneer was much cleaner. The glass cleaner served to apply a bit of polish to the clean veneer.

Not a massive difference but probably worth doing.

I wondered who would be the first to notice my conceptual turntable. cushioned on a disc of woven reed

I’m pretty sure the DBL Snaxo will work fine with the NBL. I have a DBL SNAXO 362 which I use with my Isobariks. I bought that new and the factory advised that it would work fine. Sounds great to me.
