System Pics 2020

Whouah, it’s incredible. Some years ago the Renaissance Sl1 was 11 k with phono and Legend 20k.
I think I will never be able to buy it.
Sad news!

Have you tried the Vac Signature?
I feel I will keep my Ear 912…

Indeed, CAT’s new pricing structure is a little “over the top”, but they have a new marketing guru, and that should say it all!

I have tried a VAC Signature, preferred my CAT. I would go for the new Legend over the VAC by a large margin.

I have a dedicated listening room, but also a nice, (non-Naim) system in my living room. I spend more time in my listening room, but like to have music throughout the house. But to each their own.

I know you would go in any case to the Cat . However, it’s out of my next future budget.
The Vac Signature is around 20 k. Is it dynamic and involving?
How about the Lamm Ll2 reference?

Not many Pics in the last few posts! Some of these none Naim discussions might be worthy of separate threads?

Yes perhaps certain people could have a thread all of their own…

Sorry, but it’s just the last question. This member is the only one here to use a Cat preamp in the forum. And I doubt someone else knows the Lamm Reference or Vac Signature.

The VAC Signature is not, at least IMHO, even as dynamic or involving as the CAT Renaissance Black Path EXP. So, to me the CAT is a no brainer over the VAC.
Lamm LL2 is a nice preamp, but I think it too comes in second to the CAT in dynamics and musicality.
Now, I have NOT tried the Lamm in my system, but friend owns one–He’s looking to buy new CAT, if that tells you something.

Hope this helps, I haven’t posted a photo since adding a CD5 XS and Flat Cap. As with all upgrades it seems to lead to another, now I need another 2 Fraim levels.

How you getting on with the cd player out of interest?

There’s not a lot of difference between a rip and playing a CD. Think I might keep it though, if they (and I) ever upgrade the 272 I’ll use it as a transport to the newer DAC.

You’re gonna hate me for this but you’ll thank me in the long run…and apologies in advance for the big headache I’m about to give you:
It’s time to think of upgrading your speakers!

No no no. I love my Royds, and why is it so.

Pete, i know how it feels but its time to let them go. It’s not gonna be easy but trust me it’s for the better.

I tried a $10k speaker that didn’t sound much better, and I had to play my music louder.

It’s gonna be trial and error and I know with all that’s happening at the moment but eventually you’ll have to let them go. Maybe hide them in the loft or something.

No I can’t hide them, they are a beautiful speaker that have got better with each upgrade. A few years ago when I had the 102/200 I struggled getting much bass and always blamed the speakers however since adding the 272 and a 250DR the bass is wonderful.

I do know at some stage I will, but it’s finding the right speaker at the right price.

Everyone around here have, at somebody stage, gone through this and they have survived. Any way, apologies again. I don’t want to highjack this thread, so perhaps when you’re ready just open a new one.
Loads of brotherly love.

No problems, it must be getting late there and you’ll need your beauty sleep. :+1:

And I have 2 cars to wash.
