System Pics 2020

I usually wheel them out about 2 feet? sometimes dont bother unless playing music at volume, at low volumes doesn’t seem to make much difference? I would never part with them, they seem to create 3D space beyond the scope of the sources feeding them! Took 200-300 hours to break-in…tortuous. How do you find yours?

Thank you Mook, I think that is the big question: how ND5XS or NDX or 272 would compare as pure streamers (outputting digitally) to a Sonos or Bluenode.

I love Naim. Love their approach to designing, love their looks but especially love their sound signature and ease of direct streaming. But recently, tested some modern integrated products and man was I shocked.

Class D has come a looong way since only 5 years ago. Having the same footprint as an Atom, outputing 350W in 4ohms is morning tea with biscuits for other brands, while sounding damn fine as well.

I absolutely love them. I had a pair of Compasses before and then upgraded to the Obelisks. Obviously its always down to taste, but it is very rare I hear a speaker that is as good as a Shahinian for pure musicality and you are right, the 3D soundstage is also something special.

Small update
Fitted a new shelf to separate the 250-2 from the S’cap.

Isolated the marble platform under the P3 with rubber mounts.

Also added a finely engineered glass isolation platform with semi-spherical rubber mounts, under the 252.

Its amazing what you can do with tap washers and a glass cutting board.

I have to say that I was sceptical but there really is a noticeable improvement in the bass and the overall projection. I am surprised but pleased.

What do you find is their best position, presumably wheel them out about 2 feet?

Speakers either side of the Clavanova. Classy. Do you route that also through the system?

Mine are about one foot from the back wall, slighted angled in (similar to your). I tend to leave them there, but I’ll try moving them further out at the weekend.

Actually thats where I lazily left them, in fact I normally dont angle them. I tend to wheel them out about 2 feet away from the back wall and the piano. I have a dining room table just out of shot that makes the Obelisks great for my situation. I mean the mids and highs fire upwards and outwards (like a fountain) which gives a great 3D effect. I suspect that if I had conventional speakers I would need to get rid of my dining room table to enable them to fire across the room unhindered. This does not seem to affect the bass that is tight and muscular and controlled with the Obelisks.

Not my system. Was browsing some real-estate on Vancouver Island and stumbled across this. 3-high stacked Quads! Hard to see what the other kit is. A listening room of an enthusiast (possibly a little eccentric - so right at home here) for sure.

Out with the Hydra and in with the Isol-8 & PL-Lites! Was getting hum across all components since introducing the SCDR so took a chance on this £1k outlay…

…silence and wonderful wonderful music!

Glad this has sorted the hum for you, bet you can sleep at night now!

As an aside, my dealer has a customer who he says has over £40,000 of Naim amplification (I assume 500 series at that price) & runs it with Tablettes as he is very, very pushed for space.

Dealer says the combination produces some of the best sound he has heard from any system. I run Proac DB 1’s , again due to limited space, with a Nova & am delight with the result.

Tablette 10 is an exceptional loudspeaker indeed!

Great piece of kit — also solved the transformer blues in our previous house. Not cheap but such a relief when the transformers remain silent, and the credit card statement is soon forgotten…

Makes me wonder whether he needs to downsize after divorce… :joy:

I’m sure many here would be right at home in a room like that. I see the Thorens TD124 and Garrard 301 turntables, also a lovely little Nagra PL-P…

This is another room in the same house…

Merest suggestion that the property may be owned by a gentleman bachelor?

Good call. Or a partner who is very passive and understanding.

@Gibbsee What summits that? Looks an interesting final pitch!

Looks like the Hillary step to me.
