System Pics 2020

Hi all,

This is my first post on the forum so I hope the images appear as they are supposed to.

Finally got around to taking a couple of images of my system which was originally installed in May 2019, removed & reinstalled after decorating room in October.

The display unit was custom made for me from solid walnut, to match the deck plinth & speakers. I went for a clean, functional look & think that this fits the bill!

I also include a photo of my previous set up which was based around an LP12/32.5/Hi - cap/140 set up from 1987 &, bar a couple of factory services & addition of CD player & upgraded cassette deck & FM receiver, had very few changes until last year.

Very nice indeed, like those Proac speakers and stands

Just installed HCDR. That, plus a little cable dressing, and I’m very happy for the time being.

That looks lovely and cosy. It’s good to see ES14s on their pukka stands too.

Thanks HH. I’m continually surprised how good they can sound after all this time. Bit of Eric C unplugged on at the moment, glass of wine and an open fire. Certainly all good here. :+1:

It’s a balmy 12 degrees here, so even slippers aren’t needed, let along a proper fire. I don’t subscribe to the idea of new fangled modern speakers being miles better: stuff like original Epos, early Linn and of course Naim are very hard to beat.

Welcome, and the cabinet looks superb!

Lovely set up, nice to see a pair of ES14s still in use.

I used a pair for many many years a superb speaker indeed and I found it difficult to upgrade from they were that good.

Welcome! The cabinet looks very nice as does the matching LP12 plinth.

You’ve done a nice job there and some new boxes to go along with the stand. Congrats.

Hi Mike
Best thing about SL cabling is, that they ‘ don’t’ :+1:t3:

OMG!! Those mad mana days!!! This is my system around 2006 – the LP12 was @ Infidelity for service then…

Eventually replaced by these as the system changed/grew…

Oh the Mana wars that went on back in the day, could be quite humorous-or not! Fun pictures there!

Upgrade from the Nova to NDX2, XPSDR, SN3, Hi Cap, Innous Zen, Dynaudio Evoke 50, G3 and Fraim Lite with already bought Quadraspire Reference pads.
Very happy with the sound which is brilliant in a 7m x 5m room.
Pleased to say the wife is getting used to the speakers being a bit larger than the previous Special 40s.

Lucky for her! It would be a shame to have to put her out!

Question - how do you route the speaker cable past the door there?

It’s white NACA5 bent along the line of the skirting that hides it reasonably well.

Ah yes, once I enlarged the photo I see it - nicely done.
