I feel he thinks that boutique means snake oil expensive cables, something like that.
Thatās certainly boutique
That would be a charlatan, a thief or con man. Definitely not boutique
@HiFiman Thank you mate. I prefer cherry but somehow my dealer only having mix fraim. I figure out that is the best arrangement. Thank you to Peter, Cymbiosis of letting me swap half of the silver column to black.
Cheers
I agree. But he thinks strongly that the term is used in a pejorative way.
What can we do? However some posters are provocativeā¦
However in the pic of Dior tongues, itās more thief boutique tongues. Itās absolutely not worth 500 dollars.
That looks to be a very satisfying and tasteful mix of cherry/black. Well done!
Nice LP12 plinth. Fluted walnut, perhaps?
Very cheap
Yesā¦ it is a limited fluted walnut Linn plinth.
This is my system, with a freshly made rack. I have no space for a Fraim and I couldnāt afford one anyway, so I knocked this up myself at a cost of about ā¬60. The legs are a close match to the olive fascia, which took a lot of experimenting to mix. It forms part of a unit that I have been building throughout the past year or so. Iām limited for choice in speaker placement and I know itās not ideal, but it sounds pretty good to me. In addition to the Rega and CDX, I stream from Tidal and rips through a tiny Cambridge Audio DacMagic 100. It looks nice at night.
Sean you have done a cracking job on your rack looks great and matches the olive kit well.
Thanks. Iām happy with the look of it, simplicity at its best. The finish on the maple veneer is a bit patchy when seen in daylight though. I might rub it down and redo it one day.
I really like it and especially the egg cartons on the wall as diffusers!
Yes, the egg cartons are a bit of a conversation piece. There are a total of 155 of them on opposing walls, painted in 6 shades of purple and they do a good job of stopping the echoes in the room. When I took them down about 5 years ago to repaint them, the echoes returned and everything sounded horrible so I was glad to get them back up again.
Hi all, just joined and frankly blown away by some of these 2020 systems posted up!
My modest offering below, but bear in mind Uniti relaced a Denon Ceol Piccolo, and Rega Phono MM replaced Project phono boxā¦so I am back on track after selling Naim Nait kit in 2008 (bad move).
Spent last couple of days listening to Tidal Masters and love the sound, anyway more later.
It may be humble but we all started somewhere. Even those with Naim Statements once had much simpler kit
Once you get the bugā¦
My guess is your next move will be stands for the speakers and some good cabling
Yes agree need to get kit out of kitchen and set up properly. Might go Rega P6, Naim power amp and Naim phono stage next once piggy bank is full!
A Nap 100 or 200 would be great. I would keep the Rega phono stage, that would adequately support a Rega 6 very happily
I see you are a keen eater of eggsā¦
