Happy Christmas to you then old boy!
Yes, indeed. And there are two sets of rules - one (an extensive set) that I have to obey, and another (almost a null set) that she has to obey. Not what I had expected all those years ago, but it is the reality.
The best recipe for a long and happy marriage is to learn to say: ā Yes Dearā. ATB Peter
A similar lesson from my College chaplain ā he suggested: āYes, my Dear.ā
The best recipe for a long and happy life is ādonāt get marriedā.
Definite entrant for 2020 post of the yearā¦
A lot of anger bottled up in there my friend. This is the best place to let it out amongst fellow sufferers
Cool room.
The main system. Purchased in July/August. Last bit arrived over a week ago.
Just moved the boxes out into the living room. Oh yeah! Itās finally happening.
Omega Jinior 8 XRS.
They have a truly massive range of veneers (hundreds) and these are just in walnut. Iām kind of regretting not being more playful with my temporary main system and not opting for dyed sage green or lavender poplar, or sun bleached driftwood. Chickened out at the last minute.
Iāve seen (but not heard) those Luxman components - they are so dinky! iād love to know what they sound like.
I have been experimenting with my vintage Luxman CL-40 preamp these past few days with my Supernait 3 in AV Bypass mode. It has been an interesting comparison. I am finding that the Luxman valve preamp lends its shimmer and presence to vocal recordings and certain stripped back mixes very well, possibly preferable to me over the SN3 preamp. The CL-40, being nearly 40 years old (but refurbished 7 years ago) does have a bit of grain and gets a little messy with more complex mixes and when turned up.
It has got me thinking that maybe the SN3ās weak spot is the preamp. I see a lot of threads discussing upgrading the SNs with 250 DRs but I wonder if it would ever make any sense to first upgrade a 282 and use the SN amp for a bigger leap in immediate fidelity.
hold upā¦is that a Panasonic 3800? my DAT dude! I am a DAT junkie and have posted on these forums about my setup, and had a momentary spark of joy when i got to talk about my DATs. If that is a 3800 please tell me about your master DATs, and how you transfer them to computerā¦
Haha. Me too!
Iām more curious about the speakers. Not many will rock out in a fair sized room on 10w amps. But apparently the Omegaās are made for just that. Theyāve been compared favorably to Harbeths for midrang and JBL for letting it all hang out and rockinā. But itās all a big punt. Hopefully a couple days will tell.
Thank you StuW
It is oftentimes difficult to convey tone or emotion in a postā¦ Iām hearing you mate, loud and clear
I recognize it, but surely people can discuss and negotiate a bit? My wife and I concluded negotiations a few weeks ago and I can now buy an harpsichord & a grand piano - my wife gets a new wood burning stove & a garden house.
Somehow need to squeeze in some other thingsā¦
Funny how Garden Houses seem to be a negotiation point at the moment ATB Peter
Never seems to work. All her demands are totally reasonable and really arenāt demands - simply what any normal person would want. My wishes are ridiculous and no-one in their right mind would want or put up with.
