Got a horrible picture of you Sitting back enjoying your music there Mike!
Without his pants on
Well done Mike! I share your sense of humor
If some members would strive for a standard higher than, âI can post whatever I want in any thread I want so long as it doesnât break forum rules,â most here save the pure anarchists would probably enjoy the threads more.
Surely the way to treat a post that may seem off topic to a reader is to simply scroll past and just ignore the entry, move to the next and appreciate the range and diversity of opinion (and humor) that will exist among contributors.
Adding a reply that appears intolerant or rude does not seem to be the best way to behave.
There is a great deal to enjoy reading on the forum, and best just to enjoy the parts that appeal and simply politely ignore anything that fails to suit a reader.
Bad taste and a first grader mentality are no substitute for humor.
I see where this is goingâŠ,
zoris! (a Hawaiian/Japanese thing.)
in California, people often say ârainbowsâ, although thatâs a brand name.
Ok, back on topic.
Here is my latest upgrade to my portable kit and, for those whoâve been following it for the last couple of years, you may have noticed a little tweak. Yes, guys, adding the humble Red Dragon took the SQ to another level. Why did I not think of if before?
Yes weâve had a laugh but please letâs get back on topic. Itâll reflect badly on me.
if itâs a sequined thong, yeah.
The last year has seen a Uniticore replacing my dead Unitiserve. There has been a noticeable lift in sound quality with the Core. Also got a higher top shelf of Fraim in non matching lighter Cherry, to aid cable dressing and get 272 away from transformer of 555. Speakers are 4m apart making photography tricky. I need to get a fisheye lens. In a happy place right now.
If the speakers are 12 ft apart do you get a broader soundstage ?
Normally speakers are placed about 6-7 ft apart is my thinking
Looks great. Is that a pull down AV screen on the wall?
P.S, l like the glass platform for the Core, nicely done. The Core doesnât get the love it deserves on the Forum, all those high end systems without the best Naim sourceâŠ
Hi mpw
On re- measuring the speakers are 11 feet apart from tweeter to tweeter and I sit at a similar distance in an equilateral triangle. The speakers essentially âdisappearâ and image about 1m , at least, lateral to each speaker. Atmospheric tracks such as Otis Taylors âHey Joe Bâ image very well in depth and width. The local
Naim dealer set them up and felt this distance apart was optimal in my room, and I agree.
Yes is a pull down screen which we tend to leave down. Itâs great this time of the year to watch the tennis and cricket. The subwoofer is part of a separate av system with inwall and ceiling speakers. I used to watch heaps of DVDs on it, but there is only on pe DVD rental place in town and itâs a 40 km round trip!
Hi @IDAK
On re-reading my speakers instruction manual ( after a few years of use ) - i realized i had inadvertently pulled them too far apart .
The speaker builder recommended 6 to 6.25 ft tweeter - tweeter in my case.
When i moved back to as per the instruction book - things like musicality and thickness of sound fell back into place.
But i guess there could be a difference as your speakers are floorstanders and the room is much bigger tooâŠ
Yes room size and furnishings have a awful lot to do with optimal speaker placement. In fact the room is the ultimate hifi determinant.
The room looks like a great place to hang out, lots of light and space. Re your comments regarding your Core, what were the differences. I feel my next upgrade will be a severer to replace my UnitiServe and so far havenât been convinced by the Core.
Hi Pete
The music sounded more detailed and lively. It was a relatively cost effective upgrade that I am very happy with. The interface on the app is better with more album art showing up, a pleasure to use.
The room needs some art and Iâll get my sister, an artist in the Hawkeâs Bay to get some vibrant paintings in the room.
