Brand new HiCap DR… other side is the source stuff. HiCap is worth every penny! Holy MoLy!!!
And so far Dead Quiet… no noise, no humming nada… maybe it’s that Shunyata Hydra Delta D6…
Hello,
My “modest” installation in a small (12 sq.m) dedicated room.
Nova & Harbeth P3ESR 40th Anniversary are lovely players together.
Late jazz listening, preferably with a fine scotish single malt, is my secret pleasure.
Sorry for the picture quality… it is from an old iPhone.
Sometimes there is so much more in something so simple! I like it!
A lesson for us all, I get so much enjoyment via my humble UQ2 and Allaes I sometimes wonder why bother with the higher end equipment I own.
Great looking system Jeanchris
I used to have a Nova with a pair of Dynaudio S40s. I too loved the sound, especially jazz guitar.
Who is the photograph of? The hats have thrown me…Nice photo and setup!
Nice and simple, @crispyduck.
I see your cable runs behind the radiator. My speaker cables are right near our radiator as well and I idly wondered whether heat had any effect on speaker cables…I really don’t know.
The left speaker being so close to the radiator, could the heat dry up the speaker cone and cabinet in the long run?
I suppose so but in the end I didn’t have too many positioning options. I could spray cones every day like my ferns!
Me neither!
I’ve come to the conclusion the SBLs sound best by the fireplace, no doubt due to the solid brick construction of the area.
Listening from the sofa sweet-spot is exquisite, so nice in fact, i’ve gone completely off the idea of changing speakers
I agree, the SBL is a wonderful speaker but needs the solid surroundings. I bought mine just to get them out of my mind when looking for replacements for my Credos. I had a budget of 8k, but the SBL’s are still here, and probably will be for a long time yet.
Not seen the veneer on yours before. Is it an antique oak veneer? Grilles?
Those sibbles look lovely.
I don’t know for sure, but believe the veneer is dark oak.
I bought them from Jeff at Acoustica over 10 years ago who advertised them as walnut.
They’re not walnut but i loved 'em anyway.
I’m sure back in the 90s my first pair of sibbles were light oak, and we don’t see many of those around these days either.
Re-Grilles; they’re far too fugly and unphotogenic.
Although in this age of viruses maybe face masks should be worn (?)
No disrespect to the SBLs, but wow, what a gorgeous fireplace and mantel. I love the tiled sides, always been a sucker for that style. You’re very fortunate to have it! Lots of these lovely things were replaced by modernisers and “out with the old” decorators…beautiful!
No, they’re not. I have Walnut ones and they are very different. Yours look lovely and are very unusual.
I still miss the sound of my old SBLs at times. Debs, yours look really cool in that finish. What is the pinkish “base” on which they are standing? It appears to be cut out form the carpet but is also very clearly different than the tiles in front of the fireplace.
I’ve just noticed that door in the side, Debs.
Entrance for the very slim to Narnia?
Not seen a fireplace with that feature before…
Hi to all.
This is my system. The source is in the next room: a MacBookPro with AIFF files and Twonky Server, Lan connection to a dedicated Apple router, Lan connected to the home modem.
What you see is a Lan connected Bricasti M3 Dac/streamer, a Pass ST-25 integrated, TQBlack wires to Klipsch Heresy III speakers. The TT is a rega P2 with a Dynavector P75 Mk IV phono amp. Shelves are from Guizu. I sort of fell in love with the Bricasti/Pass pair hearing them driving to a so far unheard voice a pair of Harbeth SHL5+ in my friend’s store. Choosing the speakers was a longer journey because I had a tripod set of parameters, looks, sensitivity, voicing. My choice of Heresys was a sort of ‘why not?’, and it all turned out happily wonderful.
I think that if I had stayed in NaimWorld and had bought the Klipsches first, I’d have added a Core and an Atom, being the Atom the best sounding, in my humble, and no more qualified I fear, opinion, of the new Uniti family.
Best to all, from a stroke but disciplined, sensible, careful Italy.
