In my opinion they make a good combination.
According to the manufacture the subs were not meant to be used with th LS5/9s, they are meant to be used with its smaller siblings.
I had both on loan and tried to the subs with the LS5/9 without knowing that, and did not hear any problems, so much for theroy!!
Witch hat speaker cables and a Morgana interconnect between SC and 250 happened a while ago and with great effect.
GIK acoustic āartā panels behind the sofas/listening position
and yesterday I swapped out the 72/hi for a 52/supercap.
Not sure the 52/Sc is night and day in comparison to the other changes, but its early days as its apparently been out of use for a while.
I think I need to do so re-organisation of the equipment in the furniture to get it optimised, any ideas would be welcome.
Just love the Olive series. That system is about as good as it gets. The 52 should settle in soon and hopefully you will think itās worth the outlay. Iām never letting my 52 go.
The Naim dealer for whom I worked back in the late 90s used to say that with hi-fi, every doubling in price produced roughly a 10% incremental improvement - just as his āback of the envelopeā ciphering.
I have a small habit to search Tidal for the albums I see in the photos of others here on the forum. I write this, now openly, to thank you for the silent introduction to Katja Werkerās astonishing and beautiful Contact Myself 2.0. I went immediately to her site, got excited to see the announcement of her vinyl release, then fell to disappointment seeing the limited edition of only 50 signed copies that is, quite naturally, sold out. You must surely enjoy this LP on your lovely system at home. I have put Katja on my list of people Iād like to see live if we are ever allowed again. My best to you and yours for health and happiness, and for lifting my morning here in Ottawa.
edit: alas, it says awaiting restock, but it was a limited edition not being repressedā¦ but I will keep my eyes open and maybe email the artist directly! Merci en tous case!
I race cars, and getting that 10%, or in our case, tenths, takes a lot of work to get. But when you get it, itās oh so satisfying and worth it. Same thing with hi-fi.
Have played around with distance from the wall, toeād in the speakers or having them square and my personal preference Is 6ā from the wall to the rear of the speaker and square. I found when I moved them further out that the bass became a little boomy and even more so when I toeād themā¦thou this could be influenced by my room which is 15ft x 12 ft.
