Great rooms and systems guys, some very nice examples indeed.
RE; Eames design, I love all of that stuff and mid century design, the ‘googie’ styles etc. I studied are and design at college when I was younger but wished i’d got into furniture design or interior design or similar. I think that’s why I love the old Nam equipment so much as it’s design it just so perfect. It’s just an added bonus that it sounds so good too.
When I was speaking to ProAc recently, I was told that the tweeters are on the inside in order to reduce the impact of reflections from the side walls. It seems strange that such a small offset makes a difference but lots of speakers are designed this way so there must be something in it. They said that the Tabs were too small to enable it to be done.
British Audiophile Taryn explains that offsetting the tweeter reduces the effect of edge diffraction. When distance from edge is different on all sides, the delay and edge diffractions are happening at different time thus scattering the energy and effect of edge diffraction is reduced.
Been a while since I posted a system pic but then, nothing has changed for a while! After more than 5 months of work we have our extension finished and this room, which was originally the lounge, is now just for me and the system. Although it’s the same room the system has always been in, it’s now lost a door, a lot of the furniture and the AV gear. It has gained an extra Fraim stack, some GIK Acoustics panels and a sound to die for. System-wise, the LP12 has been replaced with a Rega P10 but that’s it.
Sorry about the distortions on the panorama. I will try and take a better shot when we get a brighter day; the weatherman assures us one will be here sometime in the next couple of months!
