How did this happen — is the 282 gone for good? I remember that you have taken out the 282 before, but didn’t like it direct into the 250 without the pre-amp?
Cheers.

How good are the Neat XLS’s scotman ! I also run a pair and my favourite speaker in 35 years apart from their big brother XL6’s which I don’t have the space for anymore
Cheers

I have been thinking a lot lately about box count, needs (what do I really need), and change in general. SO I gave the move another chance. Which, if I will be honest, I don’t think I gave enough of a chance in the first place. We are creatures of habit and I think I mistook different for worse. Which, after listening to more, isn’t the case. It is just different. Not as “in your face”, and after a while quite pleasing. My dealer/enabler (as he like to be called), then mentioned he had some cables I may want to try in the mix (from True Signal Audio). So, I began to play around. While the sound still remains different, the cables brought some more resolve to the experience, which I am quite enjoying.
This began to make me think, that perhaps if I continue to move towards the chord line, there will be a bit more synergy, or more of that relaxed, smooth musicality that I am now enjoying.
So, it is a long story, that is not yet finished. I have an Etude arriving, hopefully, this week (we will see how weather impacts its journey). But it is fun, and I am learning to enjoy change and be more accepting of things that are perhaps, different.
They are amazing. I had Kudos C20’s for 12 years. I found the Neats’ , fell in love with the sound and don’t see myself looking back anytime soon. Even my wife had to comment on the improvement - which she never does with my audio “evolutions” .
Yep, bcc specific open on top to let the speaker resonate
You should give the Phoenix USB re-clocker a demo, I’m beginning to think that it’s a necessary/essential accessory when using any Innuos server.
I would love to sometime in the near future. With the outlay of $ for the cables and Etude…things will be a bit tight for a bit (even with trading in gear). But it is on my radar.
Saw some interesting articles on the Jerns, what are they like?
Great photo, stay warm.
You’ve got your Scalas to keep you warm!
Looks like the scala is longing to get out. Got to assure her it is utopia inside.
I think they sound great, no sound from any cabinets, not that they were apparent when they were there, only notice when they have gone. Give a nice wide spread of sound and certainly give enough bass for my room.
Cool room.
I have always lusted after the xls as I love the Neat sound. Obviously you find the 250 drives them well. How do you find the bass? I seem to be getting more interested in following bass lines as I get older strangely.
I am embarking on a long term saving plan to add either a 555ps or speaker upgrade. Currently have 272/250dr and motive sx2.
Hoping to retire later this year and work part time so there may be a bit of cash to treat myself
Love the lighting solution. Keeping it simple.
Ah yes, I see now that they are different, though rather similar. They look a perfect match for your speakers.
less is more
They mention “These are solid, hand welded stands that are exactly like the classic BBC stands.”
So seems like the something solid might also not be an original design either and there’s a possibility of more implementations being out there.
I didn’t for a moment imply originality to any of them, but merely observed that they looked similar. I’m sure there are many variants. I find that once you own something you notice more when others have the same or similar. Since getting my NDX2 and Supernait 3 it has struck me that lots of others do to. And it seems that half the Forum has a Planar 8! I don’t have a large fluffy dinosaur though, which is a shame.
I find the bass excellent for such a small box/size. Very concise and there when you want it.
