System Pics 2022

It’s a solid state drive powered from rear USB. I’ve never had any dropouts at all. I’ve a Ed Sheeran cd that wouldn’t rip but it wouldn’t on my Pc either for some reason.

Probably copy protection, Ed has a rep.

I can’t see that’s any different from what I am doing. Oh well. Oh, and I think it’s the red hair!

Sounds like good news to me…

Ooooo - where did you have the Proteus rebuilt? I have a Proteus that will need some tlc soon and a Phoenix S that needs looking at now

Finally purchased a dedicated rack, matches the doors which is a bonus, really pleased with the systems progress so far.

Have a HICAP DR to wire in shortly, we are getting there slowly.

I like that rack a lot.

Ana Mighty Sound, who have a showroom in Paris but I think François does the delicate work elsewhere. It’s sounding better than I remember so a nice job.
He offered the original stylus profile with boron and suspension update or a couple of other profiles. I opted for Gyger S because I was enjoying an SPU Royal N so much and the radii are close.
At the time he had no diamond cantilevers available, however, I hear he has recently got hold of some square section ones and has converted at least one Proteus, at what price I don’t know but not insignificant. There are pictures on the web but exactly where I can’t say…

Toxic!

I hope your post was made in the same humorous spirit that mine was.

Didn’t find anything humorous in your response and to be honest I find a thread of toxicity running through many posts on this forum, I am therefore leaving!

WOW! People seem to be offended on behalf of others all the time these days.
I have seen Ed Shearan join in on the “Ginger” jokes on national television. I really don’t think you need to be offended about a mild quip on his behalf :man_shrugging:t4:

I have never wanted to be drawn into any comments like this on the forum & am extremely disappointed in your over reaction to a harmless comment.

It’s been a while since there was a system pic here, so…

It’s not necessarily as uninteresting as it looks.

The Stiletto is on its way. Its Radikal won’t fit where the Lingo 4 went, and the existing Radikal cable is not infinitely long, and shelf space is limited, so some experimentation was needed. Until my CDS2 dies, something (and not just the cassette deck) will have to live on the floor.

If the L4 is any guide, putting a Radikal on the wooden floor may not be ideal, even if the cable is long enough.

I also guessed that putting new boxes like the 300DR on the floor would have less impact than doing it with some remaining olive boxes.

To my ears, that turned out to be wrong. A bit muddy? If you ever put (say) an old Nait on a bookcase and disliked the result, you’ll know the effect I mean.

CDPS on the floor? No effect on sound that I have noticed.

More surprising - olive Supercap on the floor? No effect that I have noticed.

Having boxes on the floor looks bad to me. I am somewhat surprised that it doesn’t necessarily sound bad, but the ‘what to move for least damage’ result was a bigger surprise.

The SRM platform sen here was beneficial for my old LP12, but I am doubtful whether the Stiletto will need it. It will probably be on the same Pink classified as the LP12 itself imminently, by not before trying it under the Stiletto of course.
