After some internal works moving doors etc, I’m nearly there. Some more acoustic panels for the rear wall are due from GIK. New sockets from MCRU added and cables managed. Having started with an Atom in December, its been a busy few months. This is the family room so my understanding wife now has the lounge to herself.
Very apt colour scheme too Hope all is well with you.
All the best Peter
Very nice and friendly room . I like the colours.
I don’t recognise the Musicworks powerblock on the ground. Maybe the picture.
Yes, so many living rooms look like cinemas now!
@Kipstryker nice setup. I have loudspeakers quite similar to you. Also have a woodenfloor and found the addition of Gaia feet help the SF’s a lot. Have you considered them?
Iver
Thank you Iver. Yes I have some on order, inspired I think from a previous recommendation you made on another thread.
I can still remember your system pictures from when I first joined here. Pretty inspirational for me and gave me some good ideas as to how to put my own together. I noticed the n-Sub has survived all the changes.
Indeed, the n-Sub still in service, although just for AV duties now. The S600s give enough bass output in m room.
Some years ago whilst slouching along the upgrade trail, I added a couple of PSU’s to my NAC202. Being not heavily overloaded with sterling spending credits at the time, I tried to do a NAIM upgrade on the cheap.
First I added a NAPSC and then, having allowed my ears to be seduced by the siren blandishments in A. N. Other hifi forum, I purchased not a Hicap, but a cheaper “equivalent” made not in Salibury, but elsewhere on the planet by The Name We Shall Not Mention In Fear Of Being Thrown By The Pitiless Forces Of Forum Moderation To The Outer Zone Where There Be A Wailing And A Gnashing Of Teeth From The Eternally Cursed And Damned Souls Of Those Guilty Of Typographical Naughtyness.
Selah.
Anyway. Finally able to have amassed enough spendable Euros to afford one, I replaced the imposter with a genuine NAIM Hicap after a forum informant alerted me to a total “bite-your-hand-off” pre-loved and recently refurbed bargain.
As time passed since that fatal original purchase, various bits got replaced on the upgrade path - 202 to 282, ND5XS to ND5XS2 + NDAC and so on. But for some reason, it never occurred to me to include the PSU in that process.
Every time I replaced an item, the SQ improved yes, but not as much as I started to think, with hindsight, it should have.
As I reflected on this, staring at the setup, my gaze suddenly suddenly snapped into focus on the aesthetically uneven appearance of the system due to the “wrong-shaped” box sitting in the middle of the brawn stack and it occurred to me that I had at last identified the culprit.
Now that the Hicap is warmed up and kicking, it sounds like the previous sonic shackles are dissolved and I am hearing for the first time exactly what my system is capable of. It’s as if a congested lung has just had a shot of audio steroid inhaler.
NAIM. Accept no substitute.
I liked that opening line.
Famous last words Toon
There will be further upgrades to LP12- history says so
Cheers
After 40 years and over 20 upgrades I’ve had enough. And I’m now at Klimax+ spec so not much else place to go tbh.
A 552 would be nice. You know you want one really.
And that would lead on to a 500
I’m kind of with you Toon after 35+ years
Have the the Klimax 40th anniversary and radikal 1 machined with Kandid
Not sure I’ll go further, yes what you have just done will be better, but frankly in Australia one would have to take out a second mortgage to fund it
Sounds like my ideal end game system. Congrats
Ekos SE Evo is on it’s way. Start saving.
Serious system there though.
