and room for three
Densen were supposed to be relaunching, basically company emerging from the servicing part of the biz to production, hence the “big news” on the website for last few months. Really decent people to deal with so wish them every luck.
Richard Dunn was a really nice guy in my experience, first product I bought from them were their Soundpipes, interconnects that had to be bent into shape , had a couple of good phone calls about various things and always impressed me with his vision.
Found it, I’ve mixed NSS333 with ND555.
The data is oversampled for 40-bit accuracy and fed into the Burr-Brown® R2R ladder DAC, which delivers exceptional sound quality.
That was part of the reason I went with a used Linn Klimax DS3 Organik. It was about the same price as a used 333. It’s truly excellent.
Love that sneaky little Meridian at the bottom, if only there were more players like that available these days. Design still looks fresh.
fully d’accord! That design and the lovely no-nonsense display…
Tear down/rebuild. Attempts at cable taming and hiding may well lead to a new found sense of patience. Provided I can endure the inevitable angst of avoiding touching wires and hopefully, finally getting those damn burndies off the floor.
If you can achieve this you’re a better man than me. I tried numerous times when I had my old classic system, but some of the Burndy’s simply have a life of their own…
4 hours of sweaty work later and it’s done. A new shelf so I could get my hicap and napsc off the floor. A bit more space between the power supplies and streamer/nap. To my great delight nothing touches anything else and the burndies finally swing free. Won’t be doing that again in a hurry.
4 hours … when I do it it will take 4 days …
Because of being way to sensitive with 100% perfect cable management.
That us why I avoided any rebuild - which is overdue as naca 5 needs new plugs…
I was quite surprise that the plugs in my NACA5, which were supplied by a good dealer had some deterioration of the metal visible despite being constantly in both amp and speaker, and only about 9 months old. Some steel wool and rubbing alcohol seem to have brought them back to shine. Whether or not this has any effect whatsoever remains to be seen
Mine suffer from being old … very old … they lost a bit ability of tight fit.
Retrying the bartok direct into my atc40a’s. Phono digitised via a wadia adc and the NN50 being used solely for headphones.
So far, so good.
This is where 50-odd years of audio have taken me.
(Thorens TD145, TEAC VRDS-9, NAC62, NAP90, Linn K20, Linn Kan II on their own stands. Signal cables are all lavender, including the original pre-SNAIC linking pre and power).
Order restored, no more amp experiments. To the left the Naim amps (252DR and 135s) and to the right the digital sources (modified Melco N1ZEX, Mano Ultra 3.5 streamer with Gentooplayer FW, Holo Spring3/KTE DAC, Node N130 with LHY LPS, LHY AS6 switch).
I have a wireless link to the LHY in the form of Ubitiqui Alien Mesh Router + Alien MeshPoint - sounds very good. The speakers are the Magnepan LRS with MK NXT stands that give them extra timing and speed.
Very classy looking Max
