Ah
Thanks for pic Richard
Bit off topic - was Chris Murphy the original NZ Naim distributor? Here in Australia it was Warren Stolmac from memory ?
Chris took on Naim in NZ after Avalon. Yes, Stolly was distributor for Australia until he retired.
Did a little photoshoot of the Nait collection just for fun.
I have never done a direct comparison but would say the 50 is my favourite, followed by the CB Nait 2. I don’t know of any service history on the Nait 1 but don’t think it would change the order.
On looks the CB Nait 2 still rules, although after purchasing the N50 I did move on my Nait 2, purely on performance.
I like the green Naim logo on the 2 but still divided on the tractor wheels. And I like the red light on the Nait 1 more than the white on the 50. Perhaps a Nait 50 with the green illuminated logo would be my dream combination. And then maybe add a remote….
Richard knows all and owns even more! ![]()
I’m with @HiFiman. The CB NAIT 2 is the best looking Naim box of all time (most definitely including both the illuminated logo and the slim tractor wheels).
I’m dreaming of a future Naim anniversary integrated based on the CB NAIT 2!
n.b. (1) Perhaps with a remote.
n.b. (2) Perhaps with a matching shoebox streamer.
I had them too (at once) and hd done a comparison.
Nait50 was best - but from a pure musicality judgement the CB was even slightly better. Nait50 was brand new, to be fair.
Definitely kept the CB - from the looks my favorite (maybe even overall naim box)
I am not a Naim expert but to me the one in the middle is gorgeous.
Nait2 is a class apart!
So musical that there’s absolutely no more questions about treble, bass, watts, definition or I don’t know what else ![]()
I “downgraded” my system money wise 4 weeks ago. Less expensive components, but still very good sound quality. Here is the new system.
Well I did two things, for now I have removed the turntable from the credenza and I have put Isoacoustics pods under the speakers and Viablue UFO isolators under the Nait 50.
Previously I had felt pads under the speakers and nothing under the Nait.
I think the bigger improvement is the isolation under the Nait but I will confirm this the following weeks.
Looks great ![]()
Looks great but surely the best upgrade would to put the Harbeths on dedicated stands?
Yes surely, but this won’t happen as this system is in our living room and I am facing objections
