This is the way.
Just replaced the B&W MM1’s with these LSX 2’s for the second system, lovely sound. I replaced the LS50 Meta’s a couple of years ago on the main system for Dynaudio’s cause they sounded a bit harsh but these smaller versions are sounding very smooth through Roon and Tidal.
nice set up… I had the nSats and nSub, real quality pieces of kit.
Mine are custom-commission pairs, but they actually may be coming to market soon.
Altec 416 (in this image) or 515 AlNiCo woofers under European Yuichi-improved CNC Birch-ply horns. Backed by a 3" Italian CD that rivals beryllium.
Crossover is a mix of Duelund and Jantzen heavy gauge foil/wax inductors, superb resistors, Jantzen air-coils, with all Clarity caps…not a single lam-core inductor or electrolytic cap in the whole thing. The lowest quality cap in the entire crossover is a large value CSA. Duelund copper or Silver bypass caps are offered for the treble section (I selected D silver’s).
True two-ways that make real bass and actually touch 20khz. Crossovers are below 800hz on both.
Impedance is a true 8 ohms. Havana’s above (in morning light) are 93dB sensitive. Miami’s are 96dB. Add 6dB+ to that sensitivity figure if comparing to Klipsch or other horn brands…since I didn’t count much room gain.
I don’t want to turn this thread into an advert so I’ll leave it at that.
Lovely music makers, they are.
Tremendous space here! Love it!

I just set a new system up, CI 102 and Monitor Audio Gold 200s. This at my vacation house. The monitor Audios were in my main system up until about 1 year ago. I had been trying to sell them (not real hard) with no luck. At the 2nd home I had an old Pioneer SX850 with AR 2 speakers and a Heos streamer. They really took up a lot of space and really didn’t sound very good so I decided to try the CI 102. I figured I had other uses for it in whole house music system if it didn’t work to my liking. The CI 102 sounds pretty good and definitely hits the purpose I was hoping it would. with the speakers laying around and a $1500 USD investment I couldn’t ask for more.
That’s a lovely setup, Paul. I’m very jealous of your Single Malt finished 360s !
I think that’s an image problem with the SL1200. It can render any type of music with delicacy and finesse. None of my techno is on vinyl but my 1200 is fed a diet of classic rock, funk, and soul.
The black 1210 does look rather nice there.
Thank you, James. I’m really pleased with my new system. It looks great and sounds better.
Thanks. Yes the n-SAT/n-SUB speaker system is remarkable and suit my NDX 2/XPS DR/HiCap DR/SN3 system extremely well. I’m very reluctant to change anything…
i,m 6,2 188 cm no problem in living room at higest point it,s 3 and half meters but in my bedroom that is beyond the gray furniture and clear wooden wall i many times hit speacially when i open or close the window
I ordered some diffuser panels which will go on the wall behind the speakers.
All is sounding much better, as the speakers are now well away from the wall and the left speaker more away from the corner. The bass trap, cylindrical, is helping too.
I think leaving the floor is the right decision if you don’t want the upheaval.
I think the room treatments will yield a big improvement.
I think thats a good move. I would still be looking for a bigger rug though.
nice
Ian
Not at Twickenham this afternoon then FR?
You may find diffusers work better on the opposite wall to the speakers. If you can try some panels on both walls would be good. See what Vicoustica recommend. Possibly another bass trap next to the rack and if you can place them in the other two corners (may not be possible).
I don’t envy you having to organise all those boxes, and you’ve done a great job getting it organised so quickly. Remember that you can fine tune over time, and don’t need to do it all at once.
I used to spend hours building Fraims, aligning glass and polishing balls, and getting the cables just so; nothing touching the floor or the wall and trying to squeeze the last drop of performance out of the system. Nowadays setting up the system takes hardly any time at all, the trickiest part being levelling the speakers.
