System Pics 2026

Big hole in my system at the moment while my 552 is getting the TLC required at Salisbury. Hopefully it will be back by the time I get back from my holidays. Been a huge miss, but my kitchen 250/Nait 2 combo has been keeping me going.

It’s surprising how much of my music intake is through my atom/iotas.. a great pairing, the fundamentals are all there to draw into the performance! As you see not very staged.. my wife really likes wine. The squash is mine!!

Has anyone else tried two rubber ducks for improved sq?

Really brilliant looking system - I’d probably have that running 24/7 if it were in my kitchen.

FR, I’m not sure about “weird” - it looks to be the face of a sheep, and rather sweet.

How do the little Neat’s sound up there? Do you get bass?

That really is super “Neat”, I would think that the Iota’s work very well there, they were hopeless in a near field desk arrangement via my Superuniti , my experience is that they need cranking up to sound “correct”. I have two pairs of B&W ceiling speakers in our kitchen, via two Sonos Amps, sounds good..ish and the software is faultless. If I was doing it all again I’d go your route though.

Sweet for some, weird for others.

But I was more teasing. However it wouldn’t appeal to me honestly.

I’m not sure a rooster avatar is less weird? Some like roosters. Some like sheep. Some like blackbirds. Some like surströmmimg. It’s ok.

Folks on hifi forums are weird

I have to agree that the average person would consider the things we concern ourselves here with to be very seriously weird indeed. Being part of a club like this it’s very easy to lose perspective. Try talking to some ordinary folk (ie. not hi-fi types) about cables, racks, and all the things we routinely discuss here and accept as normal, and you’ll be met with glazed expressions of incredulity and disinterest within around 30 seconds. If the people you are talking to are polite that is.

I think you just described Mrs Stu63s to a T. Only thing you left out was the “how much :scream:

No Naim, and really as of two weeks ago, I own no Naim pieces, which is a first for me since about 1984! Anyway, moved my Duevel Venus out of the speaker slot for a bit, and rotated in the little Shahinian Larc. Superb little speakers! Enjoying them immensely!

I couldn’t describe the bass as deep and I think say a Sonos set up would give a much more pronounced bass. I’ve not heard them in another environment, say close to a full solid wall placed on some rigid stands (the mounts I have are quite wobbly compared to anything you might use for a main system), where I would expect them to produce a more defined bass. They do, however, have sound balanced and not lacking in any department given the overall scale of the sound. I always want to put another album on.. I’d add, they do need quite a lot of patience, mine took an absolute age to run in, and bass performance is a big part of that..

Perhaps, but then so many others are obsessed with other peoples lives via soshul media that I suspect none of us have much interest in. However they insist on sharing and are incredulous when you suggest you don’t give a f…

I tend to find that if someone does have an interest or pastime of their own, which could include all sorts of things, e.g. mechanics, fishing, the arts, sciences etc., something they too deep dive into, then they tend to have more of an interest (even at a low level) than those who spend much/all of their time being ‘social’.

This is true. Why people insist on posting pictures of their latest night out with friends, or of the bar they visited last night, as though everyone in the world finds it fascinatingly interesting is completely beyond me. I just don’t get it. I feel like I must be missing something essential here. Something all these people are aware of but I’m just not. Try as I might I just can’t figure out what it could be.

An imagined answer:
“But if you don’t share it, film it, photograph it, post it online… it didn’t happen…”

Doesn’t really matter what it is, does it? Here, it tends to be music, gear, pets, whisky, music, socks, holidays, furniture, gear, food etc etc. It’s all validation of our ( fleeting) reality.

Sometimes posts here make me think of the tourist vs traveller schtick…“We are travellers - they are tourists”

Or maybe not…whadda I know?
