Looks interesting Phil, what are they?
Hi Gary, Alchris Audio TX1, hand made in yorkshire and sold direct. The designer/ builder Alan Clark has set up on his own (formerly designed for Kralk audio with over 40 yrs building speakers) and these are the babies in his range. Really solid and high quality parts and dare i say better than pmc 20 series i tried…and for similar price much higher quality and sound than the prodigy 1 i tried.
Told ye ! An absolute blast and a bargain too !
They look smart and have just looked up their product range, plenty of options and with no dealers to feed very competitive price points.
Happy listening and maybe a little update here on how they sound!
They certainly look amazing!
Really?! I did not know that at all.
Naim CD5italic with Superuniti, Technics SL1500c, Neat Motive SX2 and Chord Company Clearway X speaker cables. Now playing a House Party III CD this early morning.
It will be very interesting to see how you get on with these. I’ve been following Alan for quite a few years including when he ran Kralk Audio. Unfortunately he was stung be former business partners back then but it’s great to see him bounce back with Alchris Audio.
I’m planning new floorstanders for the Sunroom system at some point to replace the Tannoy R2s. DAC V1 and Nap 200 being the source and power. Shortlist includes the Rega AYA, Prodigy 5 and Neat Mystique Classic. The Alchris TX9 is a bit big for the space but a TX7 would be ideal - if only one was available.
Interestingly, I suspect that Alan uses Peerless woofers in this range - outwardly they look almost identical to the Prodigy range woofers. A Polish magazine that I read always does comprehensive reviews (including measurements) and they disassembled their Prodigy review sample - this is the woofer from the review:
Both pairs of Piega pairs that I have use have Peerless woofers and they sound good to me.
I need to spend some time with them then I’ll report .. will be a couple of weeks as not st home much at the moment!
Old and New, love it! ![]()
Interesting, never tried any Lunina on my Nait 50 / 333, just standard DIN and NACA5.
