Like “rendezvous,” “chez moi” is entering the English language because in there’s no English equivalent that conveys the idea quite as elegantly and succinctly.

A few years ago in one day I travelled through a German speaking part of Italy followed by an Italian speaking part of Switzerland. I was so tired that I got confused at a service station when buying a sandwich and broke into Franglais
. The guy simply replied “You can speak in English if you want”. I nearly wet myself. ![]()
