Technical help Requested

Who/where can I phone to get Naim technical advice on fixing my Naim Uniti Core?
I took it in to my local repairman because it would no longer rip CDs. It wouldn’t even take them in to rip. Firmware was up to date. Factory reset accomplished. It will rip sometimes now, but not consistently. For example I was able to rip 20 CDs yesterday, but it failed to rip 12 times during this period. When it fails, it takes a CD in, but I can hear a mechanism inside making a mechanical noise at regular intervals but it will not go on and rip the CD. Sometimes I have to insert a CD repeatedly before it will finally initiate a rip. My repair fellow is at an impasse. Who can we phone and talk to about identifying this problem and telling us what needs to be done to fix it.

You can contact Naim support directly by e-mail at support@naimaudio.com or by phone: 01722443405

However, in the US you could try contacting your distributor, Focal Naim North America.

Richard also means that Focal Naim North America also covers Canada.

Focal Name America doesn’t accept me, stating it is only open to retailers and distributors. It then referred me to focal.com which looks nothing like a source for repair advice. Did I miss something?

I wrote to Naim support as originally suggested and three days have gone by with no reply. I don’t know how much it will cost me to phone the UK instead of writing them. I’m not feeling very confident I would get any help that way. If someone knew the right dept to ask for I might feel slightly more confident about phoning.

Where do people send their Naim products for repair??? I’m in California, more specifically in the San Francisco Greater Bay Area.

Janet

You can try contacting Basil Audio for advice - Bay Area dealer (Saratoga). If Naim North America only accepts enquiries from dealers, Basil Audio may be able to assist you determining whether anything is possible. (The website is their name dot com.)

It’s going back a while now, but I recall having several CDs being very finicky about being ripped, some never being possible while others took several attempts, despite cleaning. I know that doesn’t help, but could any of the current problems be media-related?

Good luck.

Janet, I would get in touch with your local Naim & Focal dealer. I now appears that all local support/service/repair enquiries are handled through the dealer.
